McMillan flat top inlet by Jason Fridlund

Hello all, I would like to give a shout out to my buddy in Texas, Jason Fridlund. I recently purchased a McMillan Hunter BR stock for a varmint gun build using a Bat SV and a Krieger HV barrel. As ya'll know, McMillan no longer inlets that stock, it is sold flat top only. When I purchased the stock I did not realize how much trouble I would have finding someone to inlet it for me, but it seems that no one in my area was interested in the job. Looking back through earlier threads on the forum about inletting McMillan stocks I saw Jason mentioned as someone who might be able to help so I sent him a PM

Jason got right back to me and a couple of weeks and an ice storm later, I've got my stock back and we bedded the action yesterday. Jason was able to inlet the stock without me having to send him the barreled action, which was awesome. Bat Machine was nice enough to send us a print of the SV action and Jason was able to use that to inlet the stock. He also used a 3D printer to "print" a copy of the action to test his inlet (he sent me the printed action which is kind of cool). Jason inlet the action and trigger guard, installed stainless pillars, and lined the barrel channel with carbon fiber for a very nice look.

If others are having the same problems I was having getting you stock inlet, you might give Jason a shout and see if can help you out.

Todd,

It was great fun working on your stock and I always appreciate applying engineering to shooting sports! Feel free to reach back out for your next build.

Thanks for the business and I hope it shoots as good as I’m sure that final build looks.

Jason

Not to de-rail this thread but does McMillan do full inlets for any of their BR stocks?

Bob beck is the new owner. He’s focusing on faster turn around times. I think he’s pruning some custom stuff in order to do that

It may be fast but if its an unusable stock thats not going to work too well. He may not realize not many options to get them inletted

It's a double whammy at McMillan. They stopped inletting some stocks and raised the price of a flat to to the same as an inletted stock.

I was told that I could get inletting done if I ordered a quantity of 10.

The last stock I bought from them was before the price increase but after they stopped inletting that model. I had someone else to do the inlet. I now have about $1000 in that stock and it isn't bedded, doesn't have a pad on it, and isn't painted.

The same guy made defiance actions irrelevant overnite. You got lucky, at defiance they raised the price on actions that already had deposits on them. Way too many actions out there that are equal or better for less money. They got dropped like a hot potato. Sounds like decisions that are currently being made in DC- just every one is wrong

I have actions on order with deposits. They didn’t raise the price on them.

They did until they got lashed now reluctantly they are honoring the original price on 50%+ deposits. Raising some action prices 90% overnite is just crazy
Any word on employment turnover since the ownership change? They seemed like a great bunch every time I called them.
From the talk on the web about the transaction, it appears the finance team got thrown under the bus by the new owners, for their fair pricing on the actions. Something like the actions were so underpriced the customers should have been getting hundred dollar bills in the box along with the actions.
