Hand loaded 22lr is going to happen!

I shot them in a PRs style match a couple months ago. I had never shot that many in one sitting before and I believe I found a problem. As the match went on, groups opened up and it sounded like speeds were opening up. Pretty sure it’s a lube problem. I had been using alox bullet lube and I don’t think that’s going to work for longer strings of fire. Silicone grease is going to be the next lube that I try.

For this to be commercially viable, these bullets will need to be loaded to subsonic speeds. That’s not terrible really considering the increased mass and bc will still far surpass the standard lead ammo that we’re currently using

I wonder if subsonic is actually going to be better overall because the bullets won’t have to transition between drag conditions.

Curious as to why lube is necessary for a solid copper bullet?
