360Buckhammer

How does this compare to Winchesters 350 legend
One's a hot rodded pistol cartrdridge, the other is a mediocre rifle cartridge.

The 350 legend was designed around .357 pistol bullets, the 360 Buckhammer on .358 rifle bullets. So even if velocity is the same, the rifle bullet should be ballistically superior.

Then there is bullet choice and weight to consider. Do pistol or rifle bullets fit your needs better? Which has the better choice?

Finally what rifle would you rather shoot?
AR, semi auto, lever action, single shot, bolt action. The 360 Buckhammer choices will be limited by the rim.

In theory the the buckhammer should be ballistically superior, but the choice of rifle will be more limited.

+1^^^ Personally I don't think this Buckhammer will do a lot to help rebuild Remington. There are already enough "straight walled" cartridges out there to fill the niche market this cartridge is after. JME. WD
IMO headstamps aren't what makes a successful business. They could never release another round again and be just fine as a company. Making good products and managing their money is what's going to keep their doors open.

A bit of study on wildcats would answer many questions and thoughts on the 350 legend. There was/is a 338-223. From my recollection the 338 was done with a slight taper in order for it to work, 357 was a bit to much. I doubt the .355 was ever considered because there were zero options for projectiles that would perform.

The legend was also an easy out to work in an AR platform. Would have been way better imho to go with a redesigned 338, similar to 338-08 which has little following as well.

The legend is a .355. If it would work with .357 or .358 would have been a better choice as far as hand loading projectile choices. I won’t say a .357 or .358 one is a pistol and the other is a rifle. There are some .357 that are almost to tough and make a better rifle bullet. Same goes for the .358.
My FA likes a Speer rifle bullet best, yet I have a 358 that really likes a .357 bullet.

Have not seen case specs on the 360. I am guessing a rimmed and a rimless on it would throw it back to one of Remingtons earlier “ build it and they will come” ideas like the 25 and 30 Remington, as well as the 35 Remington, same name and two different head sizes.

Reinvent the wheel, there has been a 35/30-30 around for years, now a catchy name to fill in a small slot.

Looks like a .357 maximum just a little bigger. Seems like they try to invent the wheel when the older cartridges do just fine.
Hence 300prc/300wm, 7PRC/7SAUM, 260/6.5CM, ETC. I'm all for new cartridges tho. Keeps the game exciting and always keeps me building newer rifles with better designed cartridges.

I like new stuff too but the way the marketing people make them sound is they are the best ever when the old rounds do the same if not better. Kinda like the old guys vs the young guys…lol.. Nobody wants the old guys around anymore but they know they can count on them… Keep ‘em coming I say. Maybe one day they start putting out some reloading supplies.

The 360 is tested out of a 20" barrel for speeds. Operates at 50K psi. It will be very similar to 350L. It has a round nose bullet so not as slippery as a regular Spritzer sp like the 350L. Hopefully someone else jumps on board as Henry guns are crap.

Ruger/Marlin should step up for the REAL buckhammer 480 Ruger lever gun, 18” barrel. I would buy at least three at MSRP.

I like both it and the Legend. I shoot a lot of cast bullets and a small capacity nearly straight rimmed case is perfect for it. I have a 35 Remington and in my opinion that rounds brass leaves a lot to be desired and is scarce presently. Who cares what they name a round anyway? Calling the 6.5 Creedmoor "Creedmoor" is ridiculous.
