Barrel Cleaning Solvent DIY

Carb cleaners like that are much too strong for use on things like rifle bores and around some of the parts, wood, finish, plastics found on most firearms today.
You can or could end up doing a lot of damage to your firearm. Just use products made for cleaning rifle/handgun cleaning and care.

Chem-dip is nasty stuff. It's great if you have caked up adjustable gas blocks or brakes that need cleaning. Otherwise keep it the hell out of the shop.

While we’re at it, how about using your reamer to remove that pesky carbon ring?
What worries you about doing that? I've done it several times. Are you worried about the reamer or the chamber? I'm curious because the reamer will never cut any part of the throat once the bbl has any wear at all. Is there something you've actually seen that worries you or just the idea?

Nothing worries me about it….lol. I don’t chamber my own barrels, so I rarely have a reamer laying around. I’ve saw it mentioned on the forum before and the poor soul who mentioned it got drug pretty hard by the experts telling him that it would ruin the reamer.

I was just stirring the pot….

Ive got drawers of reamers and have been doing bbl work for many years now. Having done it I can say for sure that it hurts neither but I can see why some would be squeamish about it until they think about what's actually happening when it's done. It's fast and easy..and absolutely works. Just oil the reamer up, carefully insert into the chamber and gently twist is clockwise with you fingers. Absolutely no metal removed and the carbon flakes right out. Not even a very critical area of the reamer.
Oops...couldn't un quote my post. Not sure why that happened. But it really does work great

I’m looking for something that the label says:
Just let your barrel sniff the bottle and all carbon, powder and copper fouling will be removed and deposited in suppled self vacuum bag that can be safely just drop the thrash. So safe your kids can drink like kool-Aid and you wife can use as creamer in her coffee. if you get it in your eyes you can see better, if you get on your hands they will feel better
On sale this week for 99 cents per gallon with free shipping
