Katie Zaun kicking butt again

Hey thanks Steve. The US had a very successful CAT Games. We swept the podium more than once and secured quite a few Olympic quota spots. Katie was fortunate enough to be a part of that. Her Gold medal was in the women's 50 meter 3P team event. She was teammates with Sagen Maddalena and Mary Tucker who are ranked very high in World rankings. So that in itself is an honor. Our women swept the podium in women's 50 meter 3P with Mary Tucker getting Gold, Sarah Beard getting Silver, and Katie getting Bronze.

Katie just finished a successful trip to Lima, Peru for the CAT Games. The US had a very good showing sweeping the podium more than once and securing a bunch of Olympic quota spots. Katie finished with a Bronze medal in 3P behind her US teammates Mary Tucker and Sarah Beard. For the 3P team match she teamed up with Sagen Maddelena and Mary Tucker to win the Gold.

What equipment and ammo does your daughter use? Does the entire team use the same?

The last few years she has shot a Walther KK500 for smallbore. She has 2 of them and they have been re-barreled. The one she shot at World Championships and most recently the CAT Games, has a Lilja on it. The other has a Shilen. Prior to that it had a Muller.

For ammo, it’s been mostly Eley Tenex, but lately, Lapua has been shooting better when I test them side by side.

The rifles you see being used by other National Team members are mostly Bleikers and Walther KK500s. I’ve seen a few Turbos and Anschutz’s too. You are free to use what you want.

On the air rifle side, she shoots a Walther LG400E Monotech and mostly Eley Tenex pellets through it. RWS makes good pellets too. Just like the smallbore, you shoot whatever lot tests best in your rifle if you want to stay competitive.
