Things You’d Like to See Made for the Precision Shooter?

Hi guys and gals!

In addition to normal gunsmithing, I’ve got my home shop spun up with turning, milling, welding, surface treating, and heat-treating capabilities, and I’d love to use this blessing for making things the precision shooter might want. Id love to hear some ideas, as I’ve made a bunch of my own tooling, and just don’t know what everyone else would like to see on the market.

I’m also an engineer and am quite fluent in CAD design and simulation, so if you have an idea but don’t know how to show it, I’m game to work on it with you!

Please shoot me your wants/ideas here or via PM. I’m open to making one-offs too if you need something weird that isn’t available.

Thanks!

Howdy !

Single-shot feed ramps for use in magazine-fed bolt rifles, by varmint shooters ( and others ).
Perhaps even 3-D printed ones; if closing off the magazine cut out in the action using a metal single-shot feed ramp is not desired ?

Maybe an all-metal " stock " ( or chassis ) that is already set-up to accept an accompanying " barrel block " ?

Something easy to install and adjustable on a standard rifle stock to raise the comb height for proper cheek weld and eye alignment with the scope.
I’ll have to have a think about how that could be done. I’d be curious about any ideas you might have.

I have a fiber constructed slip on cheek riser that has different height rubber inserts that I purchased at Midway.

It's a bear to put on from the butt end. Going the other way, you have to remove the scope which has its own downside. The inserts don't work too well since they move around.

I don't know if that could be improved some way - right now I can't think of anything. It's better than nothing but not ideal.

I like those ideas.

What kind of single-shot follower is ideal? I assume it would vary quite a bit depending on the action and what kind of magazine it was.

I’m curious about the pre-made barrel-block stock. I can envision a cool concept almost like a barrel vise with interchangeable bushings for any size barrel.

I have used those before, mostly just for shock absorption so my cheek doesn’t hurt. I’d be curious about something that could be installed in any stock with a drill bit.

A Remington 700 223 follower and box that will allow for 2.500 OAL so a guy can use 75-90 grain bullets in an internal mag and have it feed.

Would also be nice for quick twist 204s and heavy bullets.

Also, rem 700 bottom metal that will fit a standard BDL mag well and accept an AICS mag so a guy could switch from a hinged floor plate to an AICS mag simply by switching a floor plate out.
