Quiet muzzle brake

Looking to install muzzle brake to combat recoil and flip but also would like one that’s not so loud. Is there an option or basically muzzle brake or suppressor

Much of what makes a brake work is also what makes it seem louder. Sound waves travel through air. A brake dumps that sound laterally, where gasses push it away from the shooter without a brake. I've read that the actual decibel level is the same. Makes sense, as at distance, they don't seem much or any louder than without one. But don't stand beside oneo_Oo_O

While I believe there are no "quiet" brakes, there are definitely differences in the amount of concussion that a shooter experiences from different brake designs.

Seems to me that the more the ports are angled to the rear, the greater the discomfort felt by the shooter. On the other hand, the less the ports are angled to the rear, the less discomfort felt, but the recoil reduction also seems less.

That's why I just use a can when I can.;)

I use probably the loudest muzzle breaks because they are the most effective... angled back ports, especially if you shoot 250 gr Atips out a a 300 RUM in the prone alot with 101 grs of powder.
Or move up to the 50BMG and shoot 70 rds of 650 gr bullets with 240 grs of powder from the prone on your 70th birthday...move up to the 800 gr bullets in the 50BMG and you definitely notice the difference compared to the lighter 650 gr, and the concussions from the blast takes more getting used to than the noise. A good muzzle break makes this possible, and it's loud. No such thing as a quiet effective muzzle brake...pretty much true. I sometimes put ear plugs in plus ear muffs on for more effective protection...alot of my rifles have muzzle breaks installed all the way down to 22 LR...but I don't own a suppressor, but do shoot quite a few subs in various calibers for fun plinkers...just loaded 800 rds of 300 black out and 150 rds for the less versatile 8.6 blackout, for non some serious work.

Here is everything you'd ever want to know about muzzle brakes.
