It’s showed potential with a couple different factory rounds I have laying around. I have plenty of components to start load work with maybe it won’t take long to hit on somethingThose guns shoot great! I wish I could find similar things at our gun shows!
Nice!I picked up this model 12 at the latest gun show. It’s a stainless bead finish deep flutes 223, 1:9 twist, 26” barrel with a 5 round detachable magazine. Any idea what model and rough year ? It only has 2 action screws. View attachment 1376892
My savages have all shot like a top. This one has a short chamber. I can’t remember what the coal was all my notes is at the reloading bench. With the hornady bullet comparator it measured 1.840 cbto. I wish it was at least .020 longer. Hit a nice node with 50gr vmax and 25.8gr of tac today. My experience; Savage barrels shoot very well and they copper bad. Get ya some PatchOut, a few wet patches, long soaks, wet nylon brush, repeat till very little blue on a dry patch.
I know just enough to be dangerous, a good bit on somethings in the reloading world and not near enough on others. Can you elaborate on the “check ignition on different primer brands” what do I do ? ThanksCheck ignition on different primer brands when you have time.
Wolff sells the firing pin springs.
Simple to test a mix of ammo with different brands of primers. Make sure they all go bang.I know just enough to be dangerous, a good bit on somethings in the reloading world and not near enough on others. Can you elaborate on the “check ignition on different primer brands” what do I do ? Thanks
I think this can be way down your list, maybe off of it. As mentioned above proper cleaning is good. Most of these rifles shoot very good. Don't pass up Vmax 40 gr, usually very accurate as are the other Vmax weights. Sierra Blitz Kings are accurate. Lots of powders,VV133, 4895, 4198, Varget to name a few. If you really want to see what it can do Barts 52gr bullets can take you to another level.I know just enough to be dangerous, a good bit on somethings in the reloading world and not near enough on others. Gotcha. I have numerous different powders but only primers I have is 450s and 41s. Might possibly have 400s hid somewhere but not manySimple to test a mix of ammo with different brands of primers. Make sure they all go bang.
The first groups on paper was with factory loads. 40s, 68s, and 69s The 40gr fiocchi vmax was eating up some paper. I have a pile of 50gr vmaxs, some 53 vmaxs but no 40s. I’ll have to keep a eye out for some barts. Is there a website ?I think this can be way down your list, maybe off of it. As mentioned above proper cleaning is good.
