Back Ordered Ford

Sounds like you really know how to deal with the “Stealerships”!
I kind of treat them the same way I run my business. You want BS and ferry dust, I'll give you the address to my competitors. You want top notch product that I will stand by( and have for over 30 years) let me get you a cup of coffee and let's sit down and go over your job. By the way, I don't sprinkle ferry dust on a damn thing I offer.

Yep I been dealing with the same guy for 35 years. I can’t imagine even talking to a salesperson at a city dealership.

William, I'm working for the local Ford dealer here in town.
While I think the trucks are kinda tough looking, when it comes to doing bodywork on 1 it gets kind of expensive.
The aluminum panels aren't conducive to repair, it comes down to replacement of panels.
Door seals.... Who was the bright mined engineer that decided that the weatherstripping need double sided sticky tape along with the standard push in clips to hold them in place, I've started writing my estimates for replacing as they are not reusable.
This is just a couple examples of the expense to repair.
I often wonder how many cases of recycled beer cans go into making 1 Ford truck.
As for sales..
I heard the other day we're allocated 9, yup 9 new pickups this year mostly due to pre-orders.
So if the dealership isn't physically selling the vehicle how are they going to survive?

I smoke Fords daily!!
Repeat after me...
F= freakin
O= Okies
R= Really
D= Dig'm
Also Fear Of Racing Dodge's
Not to be singling out Ford, remember lil boys wear bow ties, while big boys RAM it.
First On Race Day ;)

Ford has them sitting in parking lots everywhere around Louisville. I'm right outside Louisville and even our local county fairgrounds is literally FULL of them. Vehicles mostly done but missing little things.

Ford is not happy with some “Dealers” due to their behaviors like selling high demand vehicles at a premium out from under the actual people who have ordered them.
The recently released full sized Broncos are an example; some unscrupulous dealers have sold a preordered vehicle to essentially the highest bidder once it hits the lot. Likewise, other dealers will not honor the A-Plan, X-Plan , or Z-Plan pricing for eligible Ford Employees, Friends & Family, or Ford Retirees.
Ford may likely expand the on-line ordering process where you build your vehicle to your specs, and will come with a locked in price quote. Dealers will still get a stipend for taking delivery, prep, customer tutorial on vehicle operation/on-board programming, fueling for the customer, and potential up-selling for Dealer installed options, but the digital age will ultimately change the way we purchase vehicles as well.
Mega Dealer lots with enormous overhead in showrooms may soon be a memory.
The customer will be the primary beneficiary due to this paradigm shift with secondary benefit of a greater percentage of profits retained within the Manufacturer’s bottom line.
While it's true I've heard Ford slapped some dealers on the wrist for selling vehicles at some crazy high prices above list your A-plan, X-plan statement really raises some question and almost have to call BS on that unless things have recently changed or you have a lazy dealer than doesn't want to make a few easy bucks.

The reason is I have been told and actually witnessed first hand that buying a truck through the employee programs does not go against the dealers allotment so to speak. Plus the vin numbers are assigned when the truck is ordered so how are they selling it to someone else? See I live near the truck plant so A-plan X-plan buying is a huge norm in my area.

Just a first hand example, back in the superduty crazy of 1999-2000 Ford couldn't keep up with demand of those new trucks and dealers were selling them for list with no negotiation because they could only get so many of them. When I asked my dealer if he would order one through my X-plan pricing offer he said sure because the price is set on that order and it does not go against any allotment he can get otherwise so even though it's a limited fee he makes it's still a freebie so to speak.

Showroom got real quiet. (Well maybe I was a little too loud).
Did you know when they try, they can draw papers up and have you on the way in about 10 minutes? I guess they were tired of my company. Oh...and we got all the
I absolutely hate trading vehicles…I have been in sales for 48 years and can not believe how car dealerships do everything to take advantage of the buyer. No..I was not in car sales, but over the years have learned so many ways they operate in a very gray area of morality and truthfulness…I have had a number of ex car salesman working for me, and they were a wealth of information, one young guy quit after 3 months..his comment…I was not raised that way And could not treat anyone the way the manager wanted. Wait until the F and I guy gets you in his office…all bets are off and buckle up.

My oldest boy is a social butterfly. That has opened doors for good relationships w folks that are GTG. That's how we got hooked up w our Ford guy.
Me going cold turkey into that car dealership was pure necessity trying to take care of my daughter. Can you imagine what she would have gotten in there without old grumpy pants being with her???

Ford's Godzilla 7.3V8 is a cast iron OHV 60deg V8
Wife and I are looking at a bigger RV and will need to replace our F150. Don’t think I want to go diesel route. Talked to a guy at camp ground today with a 250 with 7.3 and he loves it. Had two diesels prior and said he spent a lot on repairs. 12 MPG around town & as high as 18 on highway

Dealers are not required to participate in the Employee plans; and you are correct, I failed to mention that the Dealer still makes a base sum for handling the transaction/delivery.
Does that make sense that a Dealer chooses not to participate? It does when few eligible people live in the area of his core customer base.
I was hired to build the Excursions in 1999, production was 20 hours per day (2 shifts), 6 days per week, but the Order Bank grew beyond our capacity to deliver in a timely fashion very much like today. The Super Duty Order Bank was nearly a quarter of our annual production. The 6.8 Ltr V-10 gas and 7.3 Ltr V-8 Diesel were much preferred, and we had an enormous demand from Export Markets. The First Gulf War caused a significant drain on our Work Force as the National Guard and Reserve Soldiers from our Plant were activated/mobilized.
As you can imagine production took a hit for a while but adjustments were made.
We have not experienced such a broad spectrum of shortages in my Wife’s (29.5 years).

If I were to hold a truck long term and for towing, it'd be a diesel. They hold their value way better than a gas powered one. Not sure today about V6 gas jobs but back in the day, a V6 in a truck was the kiss of death for resale.

I have bought for our company 98 Ford P/U's since mid 2021. We get Ford Factory direct orders through our rep and the dealers get whatever they get to get them ready. The 98 I have bought is about 60% of my needs. Last year they let us order what we wanted, then started cancelling orders later. This year they put us on allocations, and we were given a number. They were also kind enough to cut our discount in half on our CPA. However, it is still a good price. Luckily the dealer I use the most had a crystal ball and ordered several trucks of our spec, and that was a help. This year Ford is not letting them do that, they have to be sold upon order. I also put in an order for 40 GMC 3500's and have yet to see one 11 months later. My Ford rep also mentioned that suspended the X Plan for now, so the new Explorer I ordered for the wife will be a crapshoot as to what it will cost.

We are in gridlock with vehicles due to outsourcing chips.Now they want me to drive an EV with our friend China making batteries.

Tesla car batteries in the US market are made In Nevada as far as I know. Ford has customer price and financing protection. We got our Maverick yesterday after 53 week wait. No mark up and they gave us the 9/2021 0% financing. Very impressed with Ford.

I dont think its fair or really accurate to say we outsourced the chips. It's more like they evolved in better industry environments. Intel was made here. Motorola. But Nvida, AMD all that and the cell phone has always been offshore, right
