Back Ordered Ford

Been sixteen years but IIRC, big fleet sales were out the door before dealer units. I remember orders in the 20,000 to 35,000 range to rental fleets and governments. In today's market, specific equipment ordered vehicles go to the back of the line and with today's shortages of components, I wouldn't look for an ordered truck to be delivered until next year. A neighbor has had a Ford pickup on order since January. The camper he bought to use this summer is eating storage yard rent and collecting dust. YMMV.

I wouldn't consider my company "big" fleet, but I'm pretty sure we get fleet discounts. I can't disclose what we pay out of courtesy to my dealer, but I will say it's amazing what they have to give up off sticker price. I'm sure crossing my fingers "fleet" comes into play on order priority.

New Fords do trickle in but from what I've noticed at my local dealership they're generally lesser optioned models. I'm assuming its an outsourcing problem, & the chip.
Bought a 21 F250 6.7 in late '20 & took it in for an oil change, etc last fall. Hate waiting rooms so walked the lot & found a '22 dropped off that night. Salesman didn't know he even had it. Gave me $4000 more for the '21 than I paid the previous fall. Thought I might miss the torque of the diesel, although not really necessary, but the 7.3 w/4.30, & 10 speed has all the grunt I'll ever need. Keep it under 70(yeah right) & she'll get 17.5mpg. "round town more like 12. Plowing.....about 8 :(

My neighbor had a 7 month wait for his 1 ton chevy crew 4x4, said it would have been longer if he had next level interior option(chip supply). He sold his truck, than was delayed a month after the truck was at the dealer(final chip install by dealer).

My buddy has a 22' F-350 4x4 crew cab, non-dually with the 7.3 Godzilla & he isn't getting 12 mpg around town. More like 8-9, but we do live in a very hilly region.

Got a '21 F250 Tremor with the 7.3 just before this mess started (I saw it coming, still waited 5 months for the order). 4.30 axles and 35" tires.

This summer I put the snowplow looking air dam on it and get 16 highway now that it is broken in (25k miles). 13 around town. Nearly as good as the 5.3L GMC it replaced, but with 100 more hp and way more truck.

If Ford would've put a pushrod V8 in a half ton I wouldn't have had to buy a GMC.
Im afraid GM is looking bad for motors coming up. While my truck was in the shop i looked around the lot and a 3.0 duramax or a gas 2.7L turbo was all i seen in half tons. They said embrace the future- i said no thanks.

I'm constantly waiting on Ford's...
To move out of the passing lane cuz I got places to go and people to see.
Ford owners really need to keep to to the right lane so guys driving real metal can get down the road.
I am guilty. Spent years being in a hurry, drove a fire apparatus and an oil burner service van. Now I'm old and not in a hurry to get anywhere.
And yes, I drive a Ford.
