I want oneI have a 1892 clone in 44magnum. It works.
Yup! I have read that Henry builds a very nice rifle but they are heavier and have a tube feed. One nice brass Henry I read about was 10+ pounds while the Stainless Rossi was 6~. I did find a blued steel side load Henry at 7~ pounds, but I only found the one. Might be an old model.Had a Rossie and 2 Henrys. I feel the Henry is a little better quality.
I had a Marlin in 45-70. It was OK but nothing to write home about. Without splitting hairs, I put it in the same class as a Henry. Maybe the Ruger/Marlins are better....Cheap low quality budget guns. Anyone who reviews them as “great” guns has probably never had enough money to buy a good quality rifle to even know what that is.
They work but just know you aren’t getting a high quality gun by any means. Of course their price point reflects that. Most self respecting smiths won’t touch a Rossi (and I don’t blame them) so what you buy is what you get. They are like the “Hi-Point” brand of rifles. Bottom of the barrel.
I would recommend saving more pennies and at least go for a Marlin. If you want to splurge on a lever gun then maybe look at Pedersoli.
Yeah Marlins are nothing fancy either but definitely better than anything Rossi makes.I had a Marlin in 45-70. It was OK but nothing to write home about. Without splitting hairs, I put it in the same class as a Henry. Maybe the Ruger/Marlins are better....
Hey Josh, you just don't know what to get into next, do you.I’ve been looking at some Rossi lever guns. Internet reviews range from “rough” to “great”.
Looking for hands on experience.
Thanks.
Josh
I shoot lever action silhouette... have had and have several... the answer is, yes. Some are hummers, some not so much... What are you wanting to do and what caliber?reviews range from “rough” to “great”.
Thanks.

Hi Nick! It’s a Texas thing, ya know! Lever guns and cowboy hats. I’m just trying to fit in.Hey Josh, you just don't know what to get into next, do you.
I have a Miroku/Winchester 45/70, a Marlin 30-30 and an old Model 55 Winchester 30-30. All too nice for a beater truck gun. I’d like a short stainless lever gun in 44 Magnum that I won’t have to pamper or worry about dinging up. I have 1800 loaded 44 Mag rounds, so.......I shoot lever action silhouette... have had and have several... the answer is, yes. Some are hummers, some not so much... I remember Dusty posting a pic of a nice one in stainless, but I can’t find it.
Have you priced a new 4x4 truck lately!?! I can afford the hat and the gun. I’ll keep driving my 2012 Toyota!Josh
All you need is a 4x4 pickup with a gun rack in the rear window. Well you could add a pair of Long Horn antlers to the hood.
