Pre Fit Barrels for Savage

Ok Question on twist
I am locked in to standard 223 I have a one in nine twist now--works perfect with the 40-55 g varmint stuff I have been shooting but I recently got access to a range that is 400 and another is having 300 yd match once in a while so....IF I get a 1-8 twist to better handle slightly heavier bullets --for that every now and then long shoot--will it do the 53g Vmax OK still? OR--what is better than 1-9 if anything for what I want to do
THANKS guys appreciate your patience and time
My 1-8" .223 shoots 50 to 68-grain bullets with excellent accuracy, but I haven't tried anything heavier. It loves the 53-grain VMax.

I have Criterion’s, Shilen, Preffered Barrels and Mcgowen. I am happy with all of them.
I also got some of the kits from 20-30 years ago, wrench, gauges, barrel and some cleaner for less than $100, but hey still a lot of folks wouldnt pick a Savage up back then. Plenty of $150-200 complete rifles for a project.

A LOT more options and calibers today as well.

My Urbanrifleman Wilson barrels (.223's ) do not take a back seat to my Criterion's or Shilen's I've had. Bradley's barrel work is top notch. He has a very good eye for detail.
I have a 22br in the near future from him.

I do not shy away any more from being compared to other prefits that are more expensive than mine. I think there is enough data now to show the performance is up to the task.

I've posted pictures of targets that people have sent me. No one is more shocked by some of them than myself.

I will post more of them if you want. I just don't want to hijack the thread and seem like I'm bragging.
