7MM-08 Barrel Length

Question for the experts

What difference does barrel length in the following rilfes make ?

I currently own a Remington BDL Varminter Heavy Barrel 7MM-08 length 24 " Twist 1 in 9

I want to purchase a Savage Model 12 BVSS 26 " in 7MM-08. Listed for .308 Twist 1 in 12

Looking at their website I spotted a Target rifle FT/R with a 30 inch barrel. Twist listed for .308 1 in 12

What difference will the 2 and 4 inches length make ?

Your input will be helpful in making the purchase decision which rifle and barrel length to purchase.

Savage lists the .308 in the catalog but will build 7MM-08 upon request.

for that type of caliber, you can figure on 20-25 fps per inch of barrel. but, all barrels are different, so this could vary widely. i've had handgun barrels of the same length just different manuf. shoot about 50 fps different from one another.

My Custom Mauser 7-08 gets w/ a 22" 2910fps w/ a Max load of Varget and a 140 Gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip if that helps any.
