6BR 105 VLD RELODER 15

I've got some in reserve. In testing it matched my Varget load in accuracy and velocity. 30.0 Gr behind a 105VLDH. Lil more charcoal when cleaning.YMMV
Thank you ! I bought 1000 of the VLDH so hope they work . I’m going to start at about .03 into the lands and work back out . Are you jammed or jumping ?

Thx

Mark

Start low and work up but I've shot 31.0 grains of RL15 behind either a hybrid or a 105 VLD, jammed pretty hard for many years from several different barrels. Usually used 205M's. If you got "BR conditions", that combination was usually good for 5" or so at 1000 yards (10 shot groups). Like HTSmith said, a bit more charcoal when cleaning.

I'm off the lands about .010". From what I've heard and read, most get the best results into the lands. If I were you I'd start as deep into the lands as you were comfortable (how hard a bolt close can you live with?) and then seat deeper.

I found the lands using the "Wheeler" method which was more accurate then the Sinclair tool and then seated 10 thou into the lands. Worked up loads for the 105 VLD using Varget from 29.1 to 30.5, found a decent accuracy node between 29.9 and 30.3Gr. I settled on 30.1 and rifle has been shooting very well. I use CCI 450 primers as that seems to most common at the big matches in the USA, I have some CCI BR4 Primers to try when I get the chance. I believe the RL15 is similar to the Varget but may be a bit more temperature sensitive and have no need to change. Cheers

Read the Berger recommendations for load testing their VLD bullets. They suggest 0,-40, -80 and -120 off. Claims their VLDs are accurate within a .040” range, you just have to find out where that .040” is.
I followed their suggestio, found -80 and -120 were about equal. Retested at -100, never looked back.
The bullets were 6mm 105gr VLD Hunting bullets in a 6x22-250, 210M, H-4831SC, 1x8. The H-4831SC load was near the high end of the Hodgdon recommended load but NOT over the published maximum load.
This was and is my ONLY experience with VLDs.
Every barrel & cartridge is different.

Mine (105 VLD's) seemed to like about a .070 jump. I prefer the hybrids for the easier tuning, for the most part.
