Chamber flush system build log.

Heh, I built the same lock on the cross slide. I used a 7/8-14 brass screw though.

What inboard spider you have there?

I'll bet your lock is better machined than mine. I just thew something together so I wouldn't keep bumping the cross slide handle when threading. I really need 2" riser blocks for the 1440 GT.

The inboard spider is the Grizzly D1-5 spider.

Will your flush motor and pump get you close to what I show?

Yeah, I've got some time tomorrow. I'll post a video of it all running on a test barrel

Here's the final muzzle attachment. I'm really happy with it. 12inch 3/8 npt hydraulic hose. I built the muzzle device - 3/8npt outboard, 1/8npt inside with a rubber air nozzle. That's threaded into the aluminum cup. Some cold day this winter I'll make an aluminum clamp/bracket to hold the rotary coupler to the stand.

Looks pretty complex compared to mine.

Flow rate. I could turn it up all the way and it would blast the tailstock off the lathe.

(Don't know why embedded youtube videos aren't playing, you'll have to click it and open in youtube proper)

Thanks! What part is that drain fitting you put in your baking pan?

This is how much flow I get. This is with my line two feet above the spindle. I could reroute it to get a bit more flow but never considered it important enough. View attachment 1363980

Dave,

Is that with the line going straight from the pump through the rotary union to the barrel?

Do you have a return line in between the pump and the rotary union?

That fitting is called a "bulkhead fitting" - There are dozens on amazon. I had to modify that one by cutting some threads off and using a thinner o-ring to get the plumbing to fit over the ways. I'll DM you.

That's straight from the pump. It's a low pressure immersion pump that came with my Haas. It can run for hours with the valve closed. The supply line is about 2' above the spindle so I could get more flow by lowering it if I needed it. The way I have the needle valve set on the air supply side I can tap the foot valve, wait a few seconds and air comes bubbling through mixed with the oil. I don't do that often but it can break up/push chips out. I can't get too enthusiastic or oil goes everywhere. Kind of a short term pressure boost.

Thinking about this one. It has a better pump than the $179 Chinese pump/bucket unit, and a baffled tank designed to settle out the solids. If it isn't enough flow I can always go to a 1/4 HP pump later.

All I need is the unit below, a BTS, a return line, a bread pan, a drain, and fluid. I really don't need 10 gallon capacity, but the smaller units with the good pump are all way more expensive.

That's a good price considering you get a tank with it.

You can get just the pump for $235 from the same place.

for those interested... the Graymills part is IMV08

They list some alternative part numbers, all of which are currently out of stock. I'd call Ajax and see what they say.
