Harrell's rings dove tail mounting screws .... ¥€¥^¢@#!!

The screws that hold the rings to the dovetail are hex heads. Best i can tell 3.5mm. I've rounded two up because the standard Allen wrench set doesn't have the size and i was forced to use the torx, it did the job once but screwed up the bolt.

Anyone have a solution?
I'm thinking about slotting them.

My Harrell's rings take a 9/64" hex.

Screwing them up is on you. This time, take the time to take one with you to a place that sells a variety of Allen wrenches and buy a couple that actually are correct for your rings. I have a set and they never have given me any problems. In fact, I really like all the fasteners, but then I have a wrench that actually is correct for them. As far as your existing screws go, I would call them, take responsibility for what happened, and they probably will send you a couple.

Most commonly available Allen wrenches are extremely poor from a quality and sizing standpoint. The Bondhaus-style ball end wrenches are death on fasteners. Even with a good fitting Allen wrench, corner roll over is almost inevitable. The smaller the Allen wrench size, the worse it gets.

Upgrading to the Torx heads is a nice way to go.

I have a small tin of small Allen wrenches. They vary quite a bit. If one does not fit properly, I keep looking until I find one that does. My take is that these are not precision tools. I came to this conclusion using my dial caliper. From that point on, I simply kept trying different ones until I got the fit that I needed. Since I have so many, to save time, once I find one that fits I put a tape flag on it. There are only a few that have this, so it saves me time.

The local hardware store has the screws..
I thought I'd found the correct sized bit. Wheeler fat wrench doesn't have have one. I'll look for a 9/64 thanks @Jerry Wick .

Yes. The Torx and Torx Plus screws are much better for bit fitment. -Al
