I use blue thread locker and have never had screws come loose in over 40 years of shooting. I also use it under the mount or rail.

Red loctite has NO PLACE in anyones reloading or general gunsmithing workshop. None.Ive seen a few very nice actions hurt bad with guys putting red loctite on front base screws. Had a bat with the threads galled right out of it a few years ago when the barrel got locked up
Exactly. And even then a little blue loctite goes a long way.I use blue thread locker and have never had screws come loose in over 40 years of shooting. I also use it under the mount or rail.
Dusty is right on here. I personally cannot understand how this happened to the OP.If your solvent worked its way up to the rail screws, your choice of solvent or frequency of cleaning isnt your problem
Exactly. This is the takeaway here. The problem isn’t what is used or not on the screws but that solvent is reaching any of them and it shouldn’t be. That is what needs to be fixed. Not which loctite.
holding a soldering iron on the screw is all it takes to release it.Red loctite will come out as easy as blue loctite if you can apply heat.....that is the key...on 700 small screw bases..I have used. No issues.
Beat me to it!holding a soldering iron on the screw is all it takes to release it.
I use a tiny drop of blue loctite on rail screws but that’s it.I don’t use anything. I have never had a scope rail or any othe mount come loose.
But then, the Rifles we shoot in competition don’t really have that much recoil.
