Chucking In The Lava

STS

Working on some chucks in the lava rock piles. This particular spot isn’t more than about 300 yards long but had several chucks in it. I shot 7 out of there in about an hour with the .17 Mach IV.

Nice, good shootin'. Appears to have been a very fun hour. I should get my M4 out more too.

I see your rifle is wearing a synthetic stock. For some years now, I've quit using my nice walnut stocked rifles in favor of synthetic also for chucks in the lava rock. As most know, that stuff is brutal on wood!

Yep, that’s a 30+ year old McMillan Classic on a late 1950’s vintage 40X single shot. It’s about 2000 rounds into its third barrel. I would take a guess and say that rifle has been the undoing of somewhere in the neighborhood of 8000 prairie dogs and gophers. I shoot it more than any other rifle.
