Made it out to a familiar haunt for some Rock Chuck shooting. Weather was perfect and after a few days of high winds pretty calm. I was shooting my Remington LVSF in 17 Remington and my brother an old 700 in 22-250. 44 Chucks were killed, most off shooting sticks or the truck. Longest shot was 320, but most were in the 150-275 range. We managed 92% hit ratio.
The Chucks were quite healthy with some nice pelts this time of year. My 25 grain V-max load was performing well out to 300 yards. Most chucks hit at 220+ had no exit but died quickly with the bullet fragmenting quickly and turning the insides to jelly.
