Just - wow! Some times it’s not the target puller making mistakes, but the score keeper. I was in the pit pulling at a long range regional once. The shooter hit a 3 o’clock 6. I marked it and ran it back up. He then shot 3 more in the same place. I wondered why he kept it up, then followed those 4 with a 7 in the same area. After I came out of pits the shooter told me that he was pounding X’s and could‘nt figure out how he shot the 7! I had to explain to him that he wasn’t shooting X’s, that they were 6’s. Neither he or the score keeper were paying any attention to where the spotting disc really were at on the target. Since the scoring disc gets placed the same for them. That’s 19 points lost in 5 shots, because the score keeper was calling them out as X’s!
The shooter went and got the score keeper and explained to him what really happened. Then they went and had the score card corrected.Just - wow!
Hard to imagine the scorer or the shooter wouldn't notice a discrepancy between 'X' and the rather obvious location of the spotter.
At the same time, with the scorer counting them as X's, how was the shooter's score impacted?
Ah, very cool! The shooter went and got the score keeper and explained to him what really happened. Then they went and had the score card corrected.
That is the scorer’s duty to correct that, and call for a rescore.... and in my opinion it is the shooter’s duty as well.... if he is honest.@Ringostar but it don’t happen like that. I heard “well I don’t agree with it but I have to mark it”.
Generous 9s on target 5! Keep in mind, this is what I saw when I was half ass looking up the line on rest period. Who knows the real count?

Agreed. Totally. The argument that I am usually presented with on threads like this is that people don't make mistakes, even when tired. It happens. It's just that folks don't like to admit they were wrong, don't want to break rhythm, or whatever else. Hell, their scope may not have enough horsepower or it's turned down for mirage. Every system has flaws. That is the scorer’s duty to correct that, and call for a rescore.... and in my opinion it is the shooter’s duty as well.... if he is honest.
