PRS

Maybe you should read ALL the posts .

I did and don't see anything but you were specifically talking about my post and talking about butt hurt and there was nothing in my post that reads that way. How about you clarify and type what the issues are you see and who is attacking you?

I've done 1 PRS match over a year ago and was turned off because at 2 stages I had to shoot my bolt action rifle in a standing position. Doesnt make sense to shoot a bolt action standing.

I'm gonna do another in the near future. Hopefully I don't have to stand and shoot

Sitting, Standing, Kneeling while shooting are perishable items. They need to be practiced like all other positional shooting. I have a bad left eye and can only get myself to shoot left handed in the standing position. If it's not standing and preferably resting on something I opt out of that shot because I can't shoot it safely or otherwise. I accept it as being part of the stage and move on.

Standing as in slung up or standing on a prop? The first is very rarely ever done in matches now and if done twice that is very odd. The second or normal.

Warning - sarcasm.

Really, no thanks to standing up and shooting a roughly ~20 lb bolt action. For myself, it's a skill I don't have interest in.

Most of the guys didn't have slings on their rifles. And no, wasn't with a prop. It was literally standing up tall and shooting the rifle

I have shot a fair amount of both disciplines, in my mind the biggest difference is the multiple angles of fire in each stage without the aid of wind flags in PRS style matches. You can certainly utilize your wind meter before you are on the clock but once that beep starts you better be able to spot your impacts and be able to adjust accordingly.

Yeah that’s not typical for matches so don’t use that match as a yardstick to judge by.

I've shot the match up at Otto Rd outside Cheyenne. It's a great group of guys! I'm 68 years old and can do it still. Yeah, it's windy up there for sure. It's a fun match with a lot of positional stages but not to crazy. It seems like some of the PMS matches have some "special Olympic " stages that make you say, huh? Rope ladders, bag of beach balls, etc. I don't get it, but that's me.

NASCAR has the best drivers in the world.
Why? Juan Montoya was a great Indy Car and F1 driver but couldn't compete in NASCAR. Neither could Danica.
Uh, no wait, F1 has the best drivers in the world.
Why, to my knowledge no-one from NASCAR has ever gone to drive F1. Are they afraid to look bad?

Well, "Seven Time" Jimmy Johnson has had a difficult time with Indy to say the least.
I am not a PRS shooter but I respect those who are. They work hard at their sport and spend lots of money doing it. That has been, most of all, great for the shooting industry. We should be saying Thank You and keep up the good work.
Let's try a BR match where you have 90 seconds to shoot five shots at 600 yards and five shots at 1000 yards, alternating targets each shot and only 90 seconds to do it all with NO sighters. Let's not even discuss having to set up our rests, bags and perform our little "altar rituals" we all have.
Let's not have a pi$$ing contest over which shooters are the "best in the world". It begins to sound like the gun club argument over just what genre of shooters control all the money and BOD. How many times have you heard "those damn shotgun shooters" or "those IDPA shooters own this place and get whatever they want"?
2A is under constant assault and, no matter our game, we should be all singing in the choir for freedom.
End of rant.

My observation from the original post is that F-Class shooters certainly do talk about the wind, but often they will wait until the match is over to discuss specifics, so as not to provide their competitors with useful tips until the scoring has been completed.

Would you like to know why the prs events draw shooters? Look at these post its easy to see.
I've shot it all for over 35 years and hands down PRS events are fun. We are averaging well over 100 shooters at our 1 day matches and 35 at the 22 matches. Yes the wind is critical but you dont hear them talking about e-targets paid pullers ..
Everyone eats well as lunch is provided.
Its just Fun!!

That was a good rant!

I have had one match where we had to shoot standing during a stage, but a 12 inch plate at 200yards was a rather easy to hit in my opinion. Not me in the video, thats Nick Depp.
I put my shooting jacket on for that stage.

Video from that stage.

That’s interesting. I have never seen a rifle shot like that with the butt of the gun over the shoulder, but I haven’t watched a lot of others shoot.
