Small flash hole primers?

Very much so. I've done similar to my neck mandrels when tension wasn't adequate. My die decap pin (Lee Collet neck sizer) has a flang on the end that wouldn't allow me to chuck it in my press.
There are many shop methods to cheat a little and work around something like the top flange on the Lee Collet Die in order to be able to grip the shank in a centered way. They all depend on what kind of chuck or machine collets you have in your shop.
On general method is to use a small strip of precision shim stock wrapped around the Lee part to build the diameter to where it is larger than the flange diameter, then clamp over the shim stock.
Other types of chucks or machine collets will clear the flange without any drama. So it depends on what you plan to mount it with in terms of what is easy.
I use the Lee Collet Dies and have ground them down to specific sizes in order to control neck tension, then did this again when more flash hole issues came along.
You can even remove the flange and put it back if you know how, but it is far easier to just use shim stock to avoid those steps.
I realize not everyone has shim stock and a sheet metal shear laying around, but these are usually not far away or hard to borrow. A six pack to your local machinist probably gets that fixed in short order... I prefer Scotch...

Does anybody that uses the regular small rifle primers (not mag) ever shoot in extremely cold conditions? I’m talking like near 0 F
I only hunt when it's that cold and my Hunting load for my Ruger RAP in 6.5 Creedmoor is in Starline LRP cases. I doubt there are many competitions in that cold of weather.

i doubt there are many in that weather, but my gunsmith shoots in matches a few times during winter.
i’m guessing that the small rifle primers should work with an undersize flash hole, but it would make me feel better if someone has used them successfully.

i will give him a call tomorrow and ask him. Should have thought of that earlier.
