Shilen rachet vs standard?

I doubt it. If it’s a good barrel they tend to shoot good and I’m not sure how much the other stuff matters like groves, or cut vs button rifling. My most accurate barrel is a cut rifling 4 grove krieger barrel and it is very easy to clean usually only requiring a few wet patches before they start to come out completely white but I’m positive there’s a 6 grove shilen or hart barrel that’s as accurate or more accurate than mine but maybe they would take a little bit longer to clean that I’m really not sure about.
Like Butch says it's all in the hands of the beholder. If it makes you feel good shoot it but the most used barrel in short range benchrest nowadays is a Krieger.

I sure do like my krieger barrel I can see why they’re popular. I don’t shoot competition but I do measure my aggs just out of curiosity and record keeping and that barrel’s last agg was .231 at 100 yards with 6 groups of 5 shots each. Albeit that was on a nice cool day with not much wind and little to no heat mirage. Still made me happy to see though!

For a while, Shilen made a polygon rifled barrel which they dubbed "DGA" rifling. It was actually a good lead bullet pattern but a turkey with jacketed bullets; at least not capable of BR accuracy. I have a couple of ratchet rifled barrels and both shoot very well; just as well as the conventional patterns. I have had some early eight groove Shilens which were also very good. WH

1911 nut asked: "What are the benefits of the ratchet type rifling in Shilen barrels?" I've only owned one I thought it was 5 grooves 6mmbrx. Had it shortened/rechambered when it got goofy. Lasted maybe 17 18 hundred shots total. I wish I could tell you some benefits. I use what my gunsmith likes now. The last 3 were Brux. Almost all of them [brands] shoot best when young n fresh. After that they settle in, so it seems till retirement. I've retired a few [20 ?] barrels in the past 15 years. Only one shot & really held my attention till it died. Laugh away an $89.00 dollar Adams & Bennitt close out 243 Winchester pre-fit. I have some high dollar real good shooters . Krieger, Brux , Pac-Nor & some other odd numbers. Testing out one or two of anything won't tell you much. mikeinct

You never owned a 5 groove Shilen. Might have been another brand in 5R.
