MidwayUSA Pricing Concerns

I bought some clearance bullets about 2 weeks ago. Was a good deal. 2 different brands/types. The day after i ordered i check back , was going to order more. Both were still in stock on clearance but after my order pricing had changed. One went up by over $10 a box aand the other by $5.
Are they adoping amazons algorythem pricing?

I've seen the same thing on Midway. Sure seems they are 'market' pricing.

When companies get big, or are bought by a big company, they use business plans to extract more money from each customer. The large/national car care centers are a good example - you pull in to have a slow leak fixed in your tires. While you are waiting someone comes out and says their records show that you have not had your radiator flushed, your transmission fluid changed, new fan belts installed, and their safety check revealed that you need new wiper blades. Then they tell you that they can't fix your tire because the leak is in the side wall and it wouldn't be safe, but they do have a sale on new tires that are your size and since you are replacing one, you might as well buy the whole set! They are betting that a certain percentage of people will fall for one or all of the above. They do not stick to the basics of good honest service where the customer is considered the number one asset they have. I don't use big companies any more. I avoid them. This is my prediction: if we do not support our local people (who can't compete because they don't have the volume) one day the biggies will be all we have to purchase from, and they will treat us like they want to because they have no competition and we have NO options.

Signed into Midway this morning to see my Birthday pricing and was impressed with the discounts on stuff I've looked at so far. 20% off Lapua brass for example, 308 LRP for $82.44 a box and in stock. I'll be taking my time to price check a few things then put an order together. Just like anything else these days it pays to shop around and buy when and where it makes sense.

Happy Bday.
I am doing the same. I shop there very little through the year, my shooting bud and I get together and buy if the pricing is right on both our B days, been doing that a long time. Years past we have spent 2-5k, those days are past.

they did the same thing about a month ago with Speer bullets. it seems like once the word gets out that they have a good price on bullets and people start ordering then the price increases
That seems a quite rational approach. If they want to survive in retail anyway.

I have to question your examples. If you go into any store and they don't "Offer" you other items that you might need or actually do need, they aren't doing their job. It's called salesmanship and how little companies become big companies. Perhaps you do need wipers or a fan belt, maybe you hadn't noticed the ones you had were bad.. It can be a win - win. You don't have to buy it, but it's good to have someone point it out.. If you have a nail in your sidewall, you'd better replace that tire. If both tires are worn and only one tire is replaced, it can be hard on the car. If they don't inform you, that's not ethical on their part. As far as supporting local people goes, where do you suppose the employees of the larger stores live? When it comes to warranty, I've had better luck with the larger places than a small shop. When it comes to warranty, it isn't their money.
