Time for a PCP Rifle

How do you mitigate the moisture from these cheaper Chinese compressors? Is there an in-line filter of some sort?
I refill my tank about once a month. I added a desiccant filter on the intake side along with two filters on the high pressure side. To keep moisture down even more I place a portable air conditioner blowing directly on the compressor when it’s running along with a fan. When filling I stay with the compressor to monitor coolant temperature. Notice I also added heat sinks on the transfer lines to cool them off. It’s also recommended to keep your tank above the compressor when filling so moisture would have to travel upwards. Always bleed any moisture out every five minutes of run time. Also recommend high pressure compressor oil. Using the wrong oil is one reason why these cheap compressors fail. Oil vapors get past the piston into the head where it will detonate and destroy or carbon up the reed valves. Parts are available for these Yong Heng compressors directly from China. I also only fill my tank to only 4200 lbs. No need to put more strain on the compressor just to reach 4500 lbs. So far one year of filling with no problems.4587D2CB-E63B-4D82-9E09-504DF63ED83B.png63CDF7D3-2FEE-45F2-91EC-9C46A7F90A7F.jpegF5965BF6-525D-47C0-B619-B2A9A13FCAF6.png

Watch around 13:30 if you want to see why the red wolf is at the top in extreme benchrest

Daystate has been at or near the top for a long time.

For perspective, a 22 LR is roughly 100 ft*lb and they cranked this up to 55 ft*lb in their Hi mode. Very nice performance.

Tom (Tomcat) Adams took the 2021 Extreme Benchrest match using the Daystate Redwolf in 22.

Tom is a great shooter

Yes, he works hard and shoots like a machine, so he earned his name plaque on that trophy. It is a lofty list of folks who are very good airgun shooters and pioneers, starting with the first one (LD) who is a legend.

I have full intentions on making one of those matches. Was planning on going this year and im almost ready but i figure gas prices are going to shut me down on that trip

Like Dusty said once you shoot a Daystate not allot of other triggers will ever feel the same again.

PCP and even springer if you really want to try something different BR is one of the best ways to spend a Saturday. Score and group shooting is awesome with a well tuned air rifle. The easy button for that is one of the RAW rifles or a Theoben Vanquish especially in HV and a Air Arms S400 or Weihrauch HW100 in LV (both fantastic little rifles). There are allot of good choices out there but most stock are more suited to a hunting platform or Field Target shooting imo but its not something you can't work around.

FX is also a very nice platform, this is a group at 75 yards my son shot of a xbag a while ago with a 4.5mm FX Cutlas and a little leapers scope. He has taken pest birds out past 100y with it.

That Red wolf like most Daystates are fantastic pieces of engineering.

Daystates are well built guns and certainly deliver good accuracy. Here is my 40ft-lb .22 cal Airwolf MCT in action. With a rangefinder, near certain death to rabbits at 80yds and often beyond that.

I now have 9 PCP Rifles for my youth rifle club thanks to the NRA Foundation. I have one scuba tank and need a compressor. I am watching closely for recommendations.

I have the omega trail charger with no complaints except its 12v. The bigger one i think is a supercharger and its a lot better (faster) they say. AOA has a few real good options if you just give em a call. If you went to an SCBA tank rated for 4500 youll get a lot more fills

Thank you. The internet gives so many options you don’t know where to start. I am a little Leary about 4500 psi, but that would be a bunch of fills!

Lots of great info! Unfortunately it just won't work for me because I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning. You guys carry on though!

I thought the same thing before I started shooting air rifles. I can shoot 10M in my shop no matter how cold, hot, rainy or windy it is. 200 rounds through my TX200 cost less than $6 and no worry abought neighbors complaining about noise. Air guns have made me a better shot too.
