.308 True Velocity ammo

Has anyone tried out their factory load with the 168 gr Nosler custom competition with an advertised velocity of 2850fps in a 24" barrel?
Thanks

No but I own a box. Thought I'd hold on to them since I don't think they'll be around all that long.
?
It isn't new technology. The polymer cartridge case has been around IIRC for about 15 years now and surely, much as internet went from dial-up to always-on 100 meg in that same time frame, the poly case has been improved on too.
Now, if we could only get Elon Musk to invent and perfect the rechargeable primer.

I'm aware of that but my gut tells me it won't EVER replace the tried and true current brass we can reload. I'll probably be keeping it for zero reason just like when I saved the 6 pack of Billy Beer.

My head starts to hurt every time I read the claims on their website.
Weigh less - and I care?
Unsurpassed accuracy - ah, so, same as brass casing.
Significant heat transfer reduction to the barrel of the gun reduces wear and tear on the weapon - OMG. Just how does a different case change the temperature and pressure in the throat forward? Surely they don't mean the ammo produces less wear and tear on the chamber.

I shot some last year when they first came out. They were very hard to chamber in my match rifle. Don't recall if it was headspace or just thick necks. I think it was thick necks that were the main issue. Shot about 2 rounds then decided it was too hard to chamber (I was palm hammering the bolt closed). So no data on accuracy or precision.

I asked True Velocity about it and they made it sound like it wasn't for match rifles. Should be noted my chamber is SAAMI, nothing specifically tight about it. Seemed like it was more for an autoloader? No idea.

Unless you're only goal is keeping weight down while carrying a couple hundred rounds on your person, I don't think you'll find this ammo particularly useful or beneficial.

Where did you see 2850 fps as the advertised velocity? I could only find the attached velocity chart at their website, which lists 2650 fps as the muzzle velocity.

Hmm. I swear I saw that 2850 for 168gr somewhere on their site. But, I'm not seeing it now.

Maybe someone @ TV read this thread and changed it. ;)

Seriously, when I first saw the 2650 fps number, in my mind I thought that seemed a little slow for commercial ammo with 168s. However, it falls within the range offered by a number of .308 Win commercial offerings with 168 gr bullets. I did come across another brand that advertises velocity with 168s comparable to that listed by the OP:

I have some experience with Hornady .223 Rem and .308 Win ammunition loaded with their "Superformance" powder. It does what they advertise, in that you will likely see 150-200 fps or so greater velocity than with other brands loaded with comparable bullets. However, the "Superformance" powder achieves this by changing the pressure curve. It's similar to using a powder such as RL17 or Power Pro 2000-MR to get higher velocity. They definitely produce higher velocity, but that comes at a cost as they can be very temperature-sensitive and the transition to an over-pressure state can be very abrupt. I've never had an issue using .223 Rem Superformance ammunition, but the .308 stuff has bitten me.

I think you are right, it now says 2650. I called the company to verify and they would only say that the ammo is loaded to SAAMI specs and can be used in both gas and bolt rifles.
2650 is a more realistic load.
I will wait for the military evaluations to determine the true ballistics.

I am interested to learn how they can get 2850fps using the 168 nosler comp bullet
in a 24" barrel. Seems pretty high to me. This info is on their web site.
It's high for factory 2.8" OAL .308 for sure. I'm at 2880 with 168s in a 26" hunting rifle with exceptional accuracy and no pressure. May not be far from it tho.

ive shot this ammo out of a gas and bolt gun never got past 2600 in my rifles 2570 tops I think not worth the expense to me

no problem chambering at all if you notice on the rounds the case head extends about a 1/4 in case then polymer until bullet the polymer cant deal with the pressure of 2800 fps my opinion
