Vudoo Aluminum Mags

Are any of you guys running Vudoo aluminum mags for the 22LR and are they worth the extra money in your opinion? I‘ve got 6 newer plastic one some have never been used I was think about selling.

Currently I’m putting together a Vudoo 17HMR and just got a couple of their aluminum mags for it and haven’t got to run them yet , they sure are heavy.

Just looking for opinions

Thanks Dusty , A few of my 10 round plastic mag I had to round the feed ramp a tad to get them to run. I think I’ll just stick with the ones I’ve got. I know these aluminum magnum one I just got are very stout and heavy.
Thanks again !

I am running 5 and 10 rounders and IMHO they are superior and worth the extra coin. They are built like tanks engineered and built very well to say the least. I also have 1 plastic 5 rounder that I have had zero issues with.

Ill only be buying aluminum in the future. I only got the 5rd alum to check it out and to have a 5rd. I have 6 plastic ones and they are fine. I still dont have my pillar height right and nobody at vudoo will answer my questions about it.

With all of the praise for Voodoo I hear alot about magazine issues lately.it seems strange to me.is it a hit ir miss thing or has to do with barreled actions guys are putting in various chassis?

I just put a vudoo action in a McMillan feather weight stock.
The bolt would miss the case. So I had to mill some more on the pillars.
I shot it today about 200 rounds and had no problem at all. Sounds like they need to mill some more of the pillar area down a few more thousands. Best way to try it is to hold up on mag when cycling shell. It should work every time. Once it would not chamber so I tapped the mag on table and it worked perfect.

The Vudoo was designed to be dropped into the stock you used for a centerfire rifle. “Standard” pillar height, if there is such a thing should work. I’ve put multiple barreled actions into stocks that were bedded for Defiance Deviants. Also Manners mini chassis and others. They have all worked for me from a feeding standpoint. The bolt slot usually needs some attention.

As far as being worried about the mags, I have seen nothing to make me worry. As with any of these things we deal with, there are tolerances and they can stack up. If you have a combination that puts tolerances all at one end of the spectrum it may add up to causing issues. What I have personally experienced with regard to mag issues has been with bottom metal being either too tight (West Texas Ordnance) or too loose (APA). In the case of APA I have added some adhesive shims to the front of the BM to allow the latch to better engage. With the WTO, I had to sand down the width on the front portion of the mag as they won’t even start to fit as stock.

It has a lot to do with the chassis fit more so than the mags. With centerfire you have more play as it's a smaller bullet tip going into a big hole but with the .22 there is more to line up so if the mag is seated a little too low or high there can be an issue. Some chassis makers have made varying height mag catches to take care of the problem. I have used multiple Manners stocks with mini chassis systems in them over the 4.5 years with my Vudoo and never an issue.

The aluminum mags are nice for more rounds in them. I have a 15 rounder for when more than 10 are needed in a match but all my other mags are poly mags and they run great too.

Thank you guys for all the responses , I did have a bit of a feeding issue with one or two the new polys I got from Vudoo and rounded the feed ramp just a tick with a file and they feed great now. with this post I just wanted to know people were running in their rifles And the pros and cons are.
Thanks again !

Got 1, some trouble feeding. Haven't had time to trouble shoot. Zero troubles with Vudoo plastic mags.

If it ain't broke, don't "improve"it. :) YMMV.

Im inletting from scratch, with vudoo metal that didnt come with pillars like the others. Its an m5 “style inlet”. I should have got a hawkins that came with the right length pillar at a lot less money

I have 4 10 round plastic mags. Have had zero feeding problems. Just wish they were 15 rounders.

Ditto.

I think I have about a dozen plastic 10 rounders with +3 extensions, two aluminum 15 rounders and a couple of the 3D printed 13 rounders. Zero feeding problems.
