EasilyI know this is past but are FTR rifles shooting .308 capable of recording on E Targets at 1000 yds? Mine is running at 1403 FPS at 1000. Just wondering.

Reason I was asking is because I was at dead zero rifle range and it wouldn’t register on their 1000 yard Shotmarker. They said I needed 200 FPS more speed. ThanksEasily
Who told you that? I've shot Dead Zero many, many times for F class matches and testing. My FTR load depending on temp is between 1450-1520 FPS at 1,000 on "their" targets.Reason I was asking is because I was at dead zero rifle range and it wouldn’t register on their 1000 yard Shotmarker. The range master told me. I’ve never shot there and wanted to shoot a 1000 yds. I drove 5 hours one way to get there with my FTR rifle and 100 rounds. I started at 300 and worked my way up from 300, 600 and 800. My first two shots did not record. I notified the range master and he had me shoot a steel plate at 1000 which I did and he said you’re good to go. Again I shot at the 1000 and nothing. He said I needed to be at 1800 FPS at 800 and my app said I was at 1600. He said I wasn’t fast enough and needed to stay at 800. It was disappointing but I did not question him any further. But later wondered how they utilize Shotmarker at long range matches when FTR competitors are shooting the same loads as me.Who told you that? Something else was amiss I'm guessing.
Agreed, something is not right. My load is less than yours at 1K and it registers. I also shoot at DZ. Why don’t you ask @MattKubic he used to run DZ.Who told you that? Thanks for the heads up. I’m betting that the 1000 yd transmitter was dead for the shot marker. Nothing I can do about it now. But, I’ll know what’s what if I ever get back there.Agreed, something is not right. My load is less than yours at 1K and it registers. I also shoot at DZ. My 6 dasher is only 1650fps at 800 yards and I register every round at 1000 so I think your rangemaster is sadly mistaken. The range master told me. Pretty sure that would not have been Russ that said that. He's a long time NRA shooter and knows ballistics very well. My guess is the young RSO who spent more time on his I phone than anything last time I was there.Fairchaser, you must have spoken to Russ@DZ. I am a member and have shot there since they've opened. The 1000 yard range has often been a weak spot for guys shooting .308's, and I've seen it there many times. Even for some of those shooting very hot reloads, they seem to still fall below the minimum velocity required to trigger the sensors. I work with a guy that told me a similar situation with a guy he meet up with there recently, and it sounds like you are that person. But I've also had a newbie range officer there have me set up on the wrong eTarget for the tablet I was using. So it could have been some kind of glitch like that. But yes, that is very frustrating if you are on the edge of the velocity and you are seeking to get some valuable data for that distance.
It wasn’t Russ. I know him sort of because he’s been down to our range to shoot at the state mid range matches. It was an older gentleman who seemed to know his stuff at least at that range. In retrospect, it could have been as he stated or the 1000 etarget was just down that day.Pretty sure that would not have been Russ that said that. Sure did.Wow. This thread really went off the rails...
I believe that only you and I were "those that actually fired it", Tim!! Luckily, I had been able to leave my rifle set up on the firing point underneath my shelter-half the previous relay. It was an easy matter to quickly pull back the shelter-half and drape my clear plastic rain cover over the riflescope and place my ammo box under it to keep the ammo dry as the rain was pelting down. Only trouble was my monitor would not work under the plastic?! Many thanks to the gentleman that knelt down off my right shoulder and sheltered the monitor under his chest from the rain throughout the relay and got his ass wet. I would call that RANGER weather!Shooters
First, I would like to thank the 16 brave souls who attended the first 1000 yd match at AEDC (Tullahoma TN) in quite a while. Covid and its after affects, has really affected the availability of range dates. hence the reason we utilized this particular date.
The AEDC weather gods did not disappoint, and conditions were challenging at times. The wind and lack of mirage made for some interesting comments during the match, to say the least. The last relay of the day, for those who actually fired it , showed why putting up canopies is always a good idea at AEDC. Also take note, we had 16 shooters and only 11 scores reported. Some shooters didn't want their scores reported to the general public. Attached please find the scores for last weeks match.......... Tim MidSouth Marksmen

Thanks so much for running the event Tim. Shooting in the last round was hilarious. Rain coming down sideways and scope looked like someone smeared Vaseline over it. I rather enjoyed it. It reminded me of being a kid out in the rain when you didn’t care if you got wet. I only made it 55 miles driving before I had to stop to change every stitch of clothing I had on, right down to my underwear. Then hop back in the truck to complete the other 650 miles driving. I arrived home around 2amShooters
