6br bullet selection.

I might indeed be showing my ignorance. The longest I can make the 95 vld in my particular chamber is 1.775 ogive to base. Anything longer would push the bullet back into the case. I might be on a different page than what you are referring to though.
I don’t know how I separated this from the quote.

I see. Did you try to jam the bullets in the lands?

if I load the bullet longer than what will meet the lands and chamber it and the rifling pushes the bullet into the case to 1.775 case to ogive length then that is the longest I can seat a bullet. If you are getting a longer or larger number then you have to have more room or freebore than I do. sorry for the confusion.

I understand that, but I am interesting in the level of accuracy you are getting from VLDs.

I shot a group today at 1.775 the group was 0.32 Inches. At 1.755 I can Get 0.2 when everything works out. These are with a bipod and rear bag At 100 yards. Might be better with a rest.

A 3-shot group will tell u more than one might think if you know what you are looking for.
Nothing wrong with being conservative when supplies are hard to come by.
I like statistics and I think that a 5-or 10-shot group tells me even more. Reloading is about drawing conclusions. Evidence based conclusions. The less data you have, the bigger risk you take. I think that a 5-shot group gives you statistically more relevant evidence than 3 shots for you reloading process.

O K so what is the difference in shooting 1 five shot group or 2 three shot groups on the same target at the same day and time ?

To add to that. When I get close To being where I want to be I then shoot 5 shot groups to confirm. If I’m shooting a ladder with 10 steps it will be in 3 shot groups. After I get close and pick out maybe 3 or 4 spots I want to look at then I go to 5 shot groups. That’s just me though.

My understanding was your 3 shots at different seating depths you mentioned before were not parts of the ladder test. referring to Bill's question- there is difference. It depends i.a. on time intervals between shots, weather conditions and other factors.

Right, I allowed for that when I said all groups fired at the same time or same setting at the bench.

I shot a 3 shot group at 1.775 because you were asking in previous post for jammed groups. i Also said in previous post that I settled on 1.755 in which I have shot .2 and maybe some better. It’s all relative though. What might shoot in my rifle might not in yours no matter how many shots are in the group.
