Price doesn't matter at my age. But when i run out of one type, i will go to another. Shooting LP, SP, LR, SR, & 209s. Casting my own pistol bullets, covers the supply needed.
If needed, flinklock, muzzle loader is next to last.
Then .177 air rifle & pistol in basement.
Then archery & spear.
And you can always throw rocks...

That's why I am not buying any. Come on Jim. Supply and demand. Seventh grade civics class. When the supply chain backs up to s certain points prices will drop. When people keep paying inflated pricing, they will never drop but will go up. We just went through a presidential election a sure sigh of potential problems. Seems to me an intelligent shooter would lay in a bit extra before it happens. So when they not only ignore past history they now go pay inflated prices it does not bode well for the future. So looking even further into what might be I am getting involved with airguns. I bought 2000 rounds of premium ammo last night for 60.00. I spend more on target than on ammo. I know your a good score shooter Jim. Sit down with a good springer and it will teach you advanced bench manners. I refuse to be held hostage and cry woe is me.
That's where your wrong. The prices that you see at PV, Graf, Midway, Midsouth ect on Powder, primers and brass WON'T go backwards in price. I would bet my life on that. I have never seen any of the big chains that I mentioned going backwards in prices of the components that I mentioned. THAT'S A FACT! If you think they are going to lower prices on the components that I've mentioned, PLEASE sell me some of the stuff that your smoking. I've seen jackets go down in price when J4 had a monopoly on the jacket industry and raised their prices thru the roof. Hines came along selling jackets at a lower price then J4 decided to undercut Hines and lower their jacket prices even lower than Hines. Well that didn't go over too big with the private people who make their own bullets too well. Dick Baier who passed away recently told me that he would never buy another J4 jacket as long as he lived. He owned 10X bullets. Same with Allie Euber. He told me the same thing.

With that attitude they won't You are correct. So here is a factual story I hope you can re late too. About 18 mo ago I became interested in Lt 30. The going rate in my area for a jug of powder was about 209.00 at the time. I bought the Lt30 for 169.00. I went with the clerk to the warehouse it was stored in and back in the corner up near the roof he drug down several dusty, really dusty kegs of LT 30. I bought a jug. About 8 no ago I went for more. Now it was out front with the other powder for 189.00. Last week I saw it listed with some other longtime popular number and the Lt30 was the single most expensive powder. People want it now. That is supply and demand in real life current times.

Had no trouble with the moon launch either. Watched it on TV. Believe the modern air rifles have come a long way but shooting out to 1400 yards is something to see.
I know Jeff. When LT30 first hit the market in 2015, I bought 176 pounds of it for $207 and change delivered for each 8lb container. I used it up here and it didn't work too well at all. Every time I went down to Orangeburg, SC to shoot, I took down cases of the stuff to sell because I know certain people who shoot it down there. I was selling it to them for 225 a jug which was a fair price. Up to the end of 2020 I had 9 jugs left. The price in the big places that I mentioned jumped to 250 a jug. Last October I brought down 7 out of 9 and sold it to Chris Gibby from GA for 250 a jug. Now I see PV selling it for 293 and change. I don't have an attitude about it I'm just stating fact. In the 9 seasons so far that I have been shooting BR, I've never seen the prices of those components that I've mentioned go down in price. Not once.

Then your going to be paying more in the future if you don't have enough to carry you until your on the wrong side of the dirt. You will be paying more than 80 bucks or you won't be shooting like i said unless you have a big stash.

And if no one calls PV or whoever for 90 days, or 180 days you think it will still be 293.00? If no one bids on Gunbroker do you think that powder folks want 600.00 a jug for will sell itself. So first if one looks at history and a what might becoming in the future and plans accordingly one might not get caught short. Now caught short a guy is tempted to pay an absurd price. So yes it is a chicken egg thing, but none the less if demand falls price will fall. Maybe some self restraint would pay off well in the long run for those who let themselves get caught short.

quess what retail prices went up every time and more on the second one....why because the industry saw individuals pay 100 per brick.
this time people were paying over 200 over k guess what..the industry learned to keep an eye on the retail customer.
you are living in a dream world.....more shooters than supply and will be for a while. match primers will be over 100.........

6bra1k I’d pay more!! I’d be happy to have that size stash as a back up!!. I’m in Australia and we can’t get anything and I have 3 kids and am a commercial shooter for a job!!! Our primers are $110 per thousand our powder is up to $140per kg(2.2pound) and projectiles are $50-60 per 100 for nosler 55bt IF YOU CAN GET ANY OF IT!!! I run different power, brass, primers and projectiles then the load that works best for me because I can’t get anything I need and have to work up loads depending on why I can get. I’d pay $180 per thousand primers $180 per kg powder and $660 per thousand projectiles IF I could get a regular supply of the same stuff and not blink an eye. Everyone has thier own opinion but some people don’t have a choice what they pay
But would be thankful to get anything!
Jeff that's not going to happen that no one's going to call PV for months or that nobody will stop paying inflated prices. That's a pipe dream that some of the people dream of happening. I don't give a crap how much it goes up some people will either pay up or quit shooting bottom line. Lets get down to reality and not your pipe dreams.

Jim I agree that not enough would be willing to bite the bullet for a season. But if folks would, it would work. But enough of that, I have an idea I fall in the same boat as many shooters on there middle 70s or older. I have enough components for 3 years or more if the number of matches decline over this mess we are in. I always stock up the year before presidential elections. At that point I will make a decision. That is why I am getting involved with the air gun. 9 degrees tonight several inches of snow down with more to come. Tomorrow I will be inside and warm shooting groups at 24 yds. Premium "bullets" , no reloading, no cleaning....whats not to like. Gun will shoot in the zeros at that distance as long as you can cock it. 4 cents per round. It will show you any problem with your bench manners. Jeff
