Official Gun Pix 'Pride & Joy' Thread

This rifle belonged to my father whom I lost this year right before my 30th birthday. He was a very frugal man. Aside from heirlooms the only guns he ever owned was an 1100 20ga wing master and this old Savage he bought the year I was born. I’ve decided to send her to Beanland Rifles and have him build me a 6.5x47L using all the original parts minus the factory barrel. I’ve built a lot of guns. Nice guns. But this one is by far going to be my biggest pride and joy.

Barrel shown is just for mock-up to ensure the stock will accommodate a #5 and help visualize the build. Please no Jackass remarks about it

A very nice tribute to your Dad! I am sure he would be very proud. Sorry for your loss.

I have two. One is a Remington 40X free rifle I won in 1970. I still use this rifle in competition with its 3rd barrel. It is now in 6br caliber and originally in 7.62 NATO. I won the 2021 Snowbird classic with this with one aggregate short of a National record by 2 x's.
The second was a rifle I come across at a local store returning home from Camp Perry. A 1903 cigarette rifle made by H&H Zehner.

I just picked up an unfired field grade Sako A1 L461 .223. Sweet little shooter and great trigger. This will be my plinking rifle and it will prob shoot a few yotes and blacktails. Only thing left if to free float and get rid of that 1970's era glossy hard finish on the stock.

Wow. Great rife. Interested in how it shoots. And trigger adjustment. Those were under appreciated gems until last few years.

Well I took it to my stock friend yesterday who works on mega buck trap guns and has all the wood tools. We knocked off the pressure tabs and smoothed out the fore end channel to about 10 tho clearance. Also swapped out the action screws with 4mm hex so fast n easy to pop off stock to clean, and now not lose zero.

Took to my range in the woods and it shot 3.5in low with the barrel up pressure now relieved. Re-zeroed with a box of hornady 55 gr varmageddon and then put 14 in a row inside a 1in target pasty. Good enought for me. project a success! Let it rain.

The trigger is perfect out of the box. Zero creep and light. I sold my trigger gauge but i'd say 2#.

Now to add a butt pad to lengthen the lop .5 in and polish off that disco era gloss!
