6mm .275 Coyote Barrel

I have a barrel from a gun room that I am cleaning out and am looking for some help on it. The barrel is stamped 6mm .275 Coyote by the breech, It is 26 3/4" long and the 7/8" at the muzzel. Does any one have an idea about what this barrel would have been used for and would this be of value to anyone?

Thanks much

Gary

Jerry based the Coyote off a shortened .243 case prior to the emergence of the x47 case. The Coyote is 1.875 in case length with a 35 degree shoulder.

Thanks Alf for bringing this post back to life. I usually keep track of most wildcats pretty well but this one slipped by me for some reason.

Regards.

Thanks for the information to both of you, is this barrel something that would be of use to anyone?

There is a certain degree of WAG to questions such as yours:

What is the thread pattern on the breech end?

What is the twist rate?

What is the condition of the inside of the barrel? (use a borescope to look at the throat and crown area)

Then think about the amount of effort it takes to make the brass cases and fireform them. With several 6mm cartridges ready available in this capacity, it would seem to me to be a matter of those few rare individuals who are looking at the historic import or wanting a multifaceted project to keep him/her busy over the winter.

I understand, this along with several other barrels that I have are what is left are out of my stepdads gunroom. He was a avid shooter and built his own varmint rifles and as I have discovered over the past year had many friends on this site. I think I will just post this barrel and maybe there is someone out there that may have an interest in it.

Thanks much for your help and taking the time.
