I'm like the OP still trying to find a perfect bullet for my 22" JP 260 Rem barreled AR10 setup.
I've tested 130 Bergers, 140 Barnes MB's, SMK 142's shot the best group so far.
Using a H100V powder that gives good velocities but it's temperature sensitive..

Yes sir, accuracy was great but the SD was pretty bad which would probably show up worse at longer distances. IMR 4350 works great and I'm on my last pound. Guess I'll have to open a keg of H4350 soon. Everybody says it good, hope they're correct.

If their BC holds up to what Sierra advertises and I can push them fast enough, they should keep up with the 142's all the way out to 1200.

Kaiser have you read the article on JPs website about bullets or the AR10s bullets? Check it out, I think it will steer you in the right direction. He does not like the 140s for the AR10s, when I read this is started looking at lighter bullets. I have had good results with the Nosler custom comp 123.

My 260 rem (28” Bartline) PRS type rifle used to shoot the old 140Amax fantastic. Too bad they are gone. I’v tried some other bullets and just tried the Hornady 130ELD. at mag length they seem to shoot very well out to 1000 with H4350.

My 260AI seems to like this load for a cheaper bullet. 140 gr. Nosler B T 44.0 gr. H-4350 CCI 250M Primer in Starline brass @ .026 off the lands. (DISCLAIMER) You would need to back down to around 40 gr. of H-4350 and work up. MAX. in 260 is 42.0 gr. @ Hodgdon Data Site.

you opened pandora's box. not many 260Rem in 40x. what are your thoughts on that combo? would you do it again? issues with feeding, seating bullets etc. with all the brohaha about heavy bullets seated too deep into 260 case. I like that cartridge but have not owned one. sounds like a serious piece of equipment.

My rifle is a custom 40X Single Shot bedded into a Keystone Revolution Stock so I wouldn't know about a feeding issue. The barrel is a Brux Heavy Varmint 26 inch 1 - 8 Twist. It was Smithed by (WSMNUT) here on the site Zack Donovant @ Old Dominion Custom Rifles, Maiden VA.

EDIT: This is my sixth build with Zack plus another one for my best friend and then another one on the table for another close friend.

OP: Seems like all I shoot is 260. Barnes 140 match burners- you may like 145‘s better at 1000 yards. Barnes typically have been cheaper.

I've started playing with the 6.5 Match Burners in my Swede that I have set up for Perry. Both the 140's & 145's shot sub MOA with 40.5 grains of H4350 and plenty of room off the lands (Swedes are cut for their 160 round nose). I am interested in seeing how they might run in my 260. Any suggestions as to where to start?

XL105, with as many rounds on your barrel as you have, you may want to re think your priorities and get a new barrel, or at least have the barrel blank on hand.

Consider going AI on a new barrel for that 1200 yd plinking, as there is NO down side.

284 Winner, John, R#26 in a std 243 Winchester is nothing short of amazing with 105's. I don't see any reason why it would not be great in the 260 AI. Bill Norris may have some hands on experience with this #26 issue.

A buddy is looking for better numbers for his 260. I have tons of load data from mine using H4350/4831 but not the reloader powders. I managed 2860 with 142s above 46.5 grains of H4831sc. Excellent accuracy also. He's trying for that 2900-2950. Told him to step into the AI version and get that number on cruise control. He wants to stick with the standard cartridge hoping the RL26 is his pixie dust. Just looking for some real world experience.

I am going to have a reamer ground for the 260 AI, have about 1300 PMC new 243 brass that is HUGE in the web, and brother this is some strong brass. I may have a 243 AI reamer ground, already have a 7mm neck reamer and throater, then need the 264 neck reamer is all. I have done this with the 204 case making 6mm/204 and other cases...we will see.

My brother has shoulder problems, and I am trying to knock down some recoil for him. I will probably shoot a 123-129g bullet of sorts for deer and hogs. Glad to hear how the H4831 is working for your friend, I have a supply of that as long as the primers hold out.

Well he's not shot the gun yet. I've given him the load data for both those powders. I was into that numbers game also in my early loading days. My 260 was 1 moa different than my 6.5-284. literally couldn't tell the difference on kills or targets other than that drop difference. Think the deer or animal could tell ??? It's just a number and a dial. I think he'll realize once he gets clover leaf groups at 2850-2875, that 2900-2950 will fade away. That's what tends to happen.

139-140 at 2850 is the hammer of Thor on animals, take that to the bank.

I have fell in love with a couple of killing bullets

129g Nosler long range accubond-massacres deer, complete pass thorugh
123g Lapua Scenar-complete pass through on deer shoulders
129g Hornady SP flat base-dang...what a good killing bullet
125g Nosler partition-great penetration from all angles, massive internal damage

139g Lapua Scenar from any and all angles
140g Berger vld hunting
140 Nosler ballistic tip

Through the ribs only:
140g Hornady A max
147g Hornady A Max
Massive internal damage on both of these bullets, I bought 1500 of each, they do break vertebra in the necks. These two bullets have never blown up on me as you have read from comp shooters.

We hunt in a Jungle, need a pass through for late afternoon shots

Have not tried the 142g Nosler long range accubonds

140g Hornady lead tips are too tough for these small deer, more of an elk or moose bullet

Brother is using 120g Sierra with great success in the 6.5 Creed. about 2900 fps on hogs and deer.

130 Norma Target if you can find them. Was plenty accurate out of a 6.5x47. I’m sure you could make them work in the 260 since your willing to tinker.
