Hodgdon H4350 is a REALLY DIFFICULT powder to BEST for your purpose, so please give it another fair trial. Use MAGNUM Primers and experiment with upping loads by .2 grain per chronographic readings until you feel enough is enough. The chronograph is your only reliable knowledge of what is going on downrange. A more accurate powder than H4350, I've yet to discover. Give Alliant RL-15 a 'shot' also. Without a chronograph, you're shooting-in-the-dark. cliffy
Best Powder w/ 260 Rem w/ 120-130 Bullets

I made it to the range today, but I'm still not happy with my 260. I tried the 43.5gr H4350 load with 123 scenar at .020 and .010 off the lands. It liked the .020 better, but still more than an inch at 100. I pushed the load up to 44.5,2876fps, 2886, and 2879) and 45.0,2907fps, 2872, and 2867) with better results and no pressure signs. Unfortunatley still about an inch. I read somewhere that when increasing a load and you reach a point where the velocity remains the same it is a 'plateau' and you should not load past this point. Do you think I should decrease from 43.5 and see what I get?
Also, I tried some 120 gr noslers and brought it in to about 1/2' with 3 shots, but threw 2 sending the 5 shot to an inch,at this point I was getting aggrivated and called a cease fire). I probably need to give them another try.
On the brighter side of news, my 300WSM produced another 4' print at 800,my wife says that rifle is my 'pumpkin').

I cannot answer that, but what I do recall an old time BR shooter saying,'whenever you get a gut feeling about something, your probably right' meaning some things you cannot put your finger on, but you get a hunch and often it's right.
He also said, sometimes things that are not supposed to happen do, as in some loads that you might not think would work, powder choices etc. will work beyond expectations.
I say this in that there are often no absolutes,though there are trends), but there is a tremendous wealth of knowledge on this board. I'd use a chrony and see what's going on, but it may well be your rifle/scope and not the load.....might warrant further investigation.
