Remage Advice

I have just purchased a Magpul Long Action stock with the bottom section with detachable mag and flush cups and swivels installed, all for $100.00. I have an ADL in .270 and a Triggertech trigger, EGW 20 MOA. HD Base, ready to get started.

I notice Northland Shooters Supply has Barrels and tools I would need. Are the Criterion Barrels good quality. Would you advise others instead?
Does anyone have a Remage barrel offering in 6.5RPM? I want either that chambering or a 6.5x284 and a second barrel in 30-06.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

All 5 criterion barrels i have had have been shooters. Currently still shooting 4 of them, 2 of which are remage.

Urban rifleman uses Wilson barrels i believe, which are also good.

Ragged Hole barrels does remage barrels too.

Might be hard pressed to find 6.5wby rpm chambering, but 6.5x284 is easy enough. Same with 6.5prc.

Yes, I saw those and looks good but it appears they are in smaller calibers. One of those barrels like the 6mmCM may be desired later for Summer Varmints and target shooting

NSS criterion barrels are good. Ive used 2. Both were good shooters. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

I cannot speak to Criterion's Remington barrels but I have built several top-shelf AR-15s using their 24" 1:8 .223 Wylde barrels. They shoot very well and clean up relatively easy. My shooting buddy considers his .223 Criterion to be one of his most accurate rifles.
n.b.: I do not make a market in Criterion barrels, or rifles. I build them for friends.

6cm will kill just about anything in America short of moose and bears.

David Tubb shoots baboons at 1000 yards with a 6xc and DTACS. Just sayin...

Not crazy about Criterion barrels. They shoot ok but I have you have to use a lot lighter bullets than what the twist recommends. I would go with the Urbanrifleman's barrels. Nice young fellow is doing a wonderful job with those Wilson barrel and they shoot like crazy. Check some of the video's. Little tiny one hole groups. Prices are very inexpensive for a really good barrel. The same guy that owns Wilson barrels own Cooper Rifles also. All Cooper rifles have Wilson barrels on them and they guarantee them to shoot.

I have several Criterion barrels 6xc 6 dasher 65284 308 260ai 300winmag they all shoot well the 6xc 308 and 6 dasher have shot several groups in the .1's bugholes,...with berger bullets

I've purchased 4 criterion pre-fit barrels, 3 remington 1 savage and they were all shooters. 2x6.5cm and 2 x 280AI. 2 varmint contours, and 2 heavy sporter. Sure, try out urban rifleman's barrels if you want 6mm, but if you want to go heavier with minimal wait time... give NSS a call and see what he has in stock right now. I've had good luck so the longest wait I ever had was about 10 days from order to unboxing.

I also have X Caliber and had Shilen and 1 or 2 other button rifled barrels. I preferred the Criterion barrels before I tried Urbanrifleman's Wilson barrel now.... if I want a 26", it's coming from him. I know you're looking for barrels that are chambered in long action cartridges so....

Pretty hard to beat the Wilson barrels from the Urbanrifleman for price and quality. And he cuts and threads and ships with in two weeks. Now that real service.

I can get longer blanks in Rock Creek. They make a fine button rifled blank that is very affordable.

No one ever wants to pay the difference.

I'm not a Savage fan (might not know what I am missing). But when I wanted to go the prefit route, I preferred the "appearance" of the Bugnut from SPR over the Savage barrel nut. But that is just me.

But I also prefer a single point cut barrel over a button rifled barrel. And again SPR has a large inventory and is able to provide what I need, so I use them. Always pleased with their work.

And I am a big Cooper fan, so a Wilson barrel would also be just fine with me. (Bugnut qualifier).

I only shoot a Criterion on my HBAR and it has been satisfactory. But when I look at the cost, the small additional cost for what I consider a premium barrel it is worth it to me.
