I would buy a 336 if they ever chambered it in .356 Winchester. With a 200 grain bullet, now that is a good 200-250 yard rifle if need ever be. Serious combo power wise.

Glad to see a good rifle get a resurrection. Kudo’s to them. I’ve wanted one in 45/70 for years. Sadly, my shoulder tells me it’s too late.
Everybody should consider that back in the day, lever guns were a frontier man’s AR. Lots of history with them. I just brought my grandfather’s 30-30 Winchester out of retirement. It’s a joy to shoot.

On my last deer hunt in N. Florida a friend took a buck at 120 yards with his Marlin 1895 in .44 Magnum with a double lung shot. That buck dropped in his tracks and when we field dressed him the lungs fell out like jelly. I was impressed! My only complaint is that the newer models with the cross-bolt safety have VERY heavy triggers. I wish Ruger would engineer a solution to that!

Same basic action, different name. The big bores are called 1895 but it's still a 336 action at heart. The 1895 actually has meat removed to accommodate the larger cartridges.

I had a Marlin Lever in 444 with the micro groove barrel and It was extremely accurate at 100 yds. I hit a doe in the shoulder using a 44 mag XTP bullet. The result was absolute carnage!

I picked up my first ever lever gun it's a Henry big boy in 44 magnum I must say I was impressed 3" to 3.5" groups at 100 yds I have a Leupold v-2 1x4 scope on it. And it has a smooth action and a great trigger now I may just need to get one in 357/38

Just picked up this 336, made in 1971. Wood is very light, thought it was birch, has a bullseye in the buttstock. Could it be just a light colored walnut?

At seven pound the RM 1895SBL is on the light side among lever guns chambered in 45-70.
I have said this before, there's going to be a lot of 45-70 guide guns on the secondhand market in the next decade.

Sold; 45/70 lever gun has been on my list for some time. SS; excellent checkering and threaded barrel? extra pluses. Smooth action and fluted bolt? Done, i can't resist. Casting my own bullets from thing i McFound? Priceless.
