A big 5.9% increase in SS

The same people keep getting elected because the same people are in charge of nominating them. Power is power and those in power in the parties get to choose who we will be voting for or against. For example; I've been railing against John Cornyn for decades now. He is a fossil that is part of the GOP Establishment that has taken us down this road to perdition. Kentucky had a chance to get rid of McConnell a long time ago and instead he got re-elected. We get trapped in a never ending circle of obligation to support who is anointed by the party faithful. Most of us don't have the where with all or the opportunity to do the things that would enact change. It's going to have to be a radical change in the powers that are and the rules of engagement they have enacted to sustain their power structure.
Government has not worked for the people for a very long time. Government works to sustain it's self and enrich those in power. We elect people to go to congress and in no time at all they are authorities on everything. The congressional staffers remain there no matter who they serve and government appointees remain in charge until they decide to retire. Our government has been politicized and we have very little to say about it.
Truth is probably less than 60M people actually voted for Biden. The rest were fake ballots inserted for the dead and others not qualified to vote. It doesn't matter because he is still occupying the office. Stalin once quipped "it doesn't matter who voted; the only thing that matters is who counts the votes." Or something to that effect.

That will be offset, with increases in premiums. Already saying Part B will go up in 2022, by at least $30.00 plus per month.
So what do you really gain ? Probably will get less overall. Government at it's finest, does not give a damn about the common citizen, especially seniors.

I am not certain but I think our debt is an unsolvable issue. Money is a drug and the more you have the more you want. There is now a huge chunk of our population that is on the dole, dependent on government programs for their existence. And, they vote! I don't know where or when or how this is going to end, but I fear it will not be pretty!!
We have fiat currency. Money has intrinsic value. Constitution defines money as gold and silver coin. If i remember correctly. There is a silent war on gold. Bitcoin ? is a scam to my thought.

Bill, i actually quit voting in 1990 ???. Man arrived on the scene espousing income inequality and a redistribution of wealth in 2008 . I came out to vote once more. He now has retired and lives in Marthas Vineyard.

READ. American Marxism by Mark R Levin. You will realize we sat back and watched what was going on.

Not a great solution, IMO. We just need to vote in better people. Here's a really good summary:

The man in charge may change, but the minions stick around:

Thomas Jefferson also was reported to have said the tree of liberty from time to time will need to be pruned with the blood of patriots and tyrants alike.

What are you smoking ? We traded George the 3rd and Parliament for 537 kings, State , county, city governors .

Men think no different today than in 1776 when we revolted. The founders lived it. We just choose ours now.

Bill, with a 14.5% increase in medicare premiums and the huge increase in medicare deductibles, will make our supplemental insurance go up. The 5.9% increase is way into the toilet.

I heard this was a cost of living increase. If that is true, I think they got the decimal point in the wrong place.
With the prices I've seen in todays world, it should have been 59%!!!!!!!

When my wife and I started SS 10 years ago, we were still able to set aside 2-300 dollars a month. Now we are taking that much out of savings each month. We haven't taken a vacation in 10 years, haven't been out of the state longer than that, don't eat out, don't smoke, drink, or buy lottery tickets. I'm not sure how much more we can give up.

It looks like my rifles and hobby are going to get ****canned in the next ten years.

Six percent inflation rate is horse****.
Go to mexico and sneak back across the boarder. You get $450,00 and free room and board for ever.

Very blessed and fortunate here to own everything I have including my home that I cherish. I absolutely love and have always strived to be debt-free. At least when I reach in my pocket and get a quarter out I know it’s mine although it’s only worth $.18 now.
Actually that quarter is only worth $0.005 of a 1971 dollar. You can thank the Professional Liars in your Federal Govt and the Fed Reserve Bank for 98% devaluation of the USD in 50 years.

Has anybody EVER SEEN an increase in Social Security where the cost of Medicare didn't go up also? Just the SS,DD. :(

This thread is instructive for the younger members of this forum, develop a retirement plan! You have the most important element of accumulating wealth on your side.- TIME.
Start and Contribute to an IRA, take advantage of an employer’s 401K to get matching or if self employed start a 401k individual plan.
