From what I have read, BR4 primers have a thick cup, so keep that in mind when substituting something else.
If I may ask what Bullet, Powder, and Load are you using? In my 6BR at 600 the wind doesn’t care which primer I use.
Peterson, Varget 29.ish, 105 Hybrid, CCI 450, .005 jump. But Fed GM205M and BR4s work also.If I may ask what Bullet, Powder, and Load are you using?
That's a damm good target !!Peterson, Varget 29.ish, 105 Hybrid, CCI 450, .005 jump. But Fed GM205M and BR4s work also.
In the 6BR and 6 Dasher, I personally have experienced the lowest ES abd SD with CCI 450’sStill have about 900 BR4 primers left. What is others experience in using standard primers in a bench rest cartridge such as a 6br?
For example, substitute a No41 primer or regular Winchester primer.
Excellent info article. Thank you so much for the linkSorry I don't have specific answer to your question but want to share this as well.
Lol. Wouldn’t we all. Varget is hard to find, but if you are willing to give up a kidney or cornea, you can usually find a 8lb keg for about $350.Thank you all for the input. Doing as suggested and loading some up with milspec primers to test. Have a good supply of those and Winchesters so testing will be done. I am primarily a CMP rifle shooter prior to getting into the benchrest game recently. Many of my supplies lean toward that type of reloading. Good selection of powders on hand to choose from although would like add more Varget and 4895 when possible.
