Peterson .243 Win. SRP Cases

I see that the Peterson Cartridge Co. has introduced a second line of .243 Win. brass, this with the small primer pocket, the .243 Win. SRP. I don't know whether it also has the small flashhole diameter as well--but I doubt it.

What is everyone's impression of these .243 Win. SRP cases? Peterson cites the ability to load to higher pressures with the SRP version of the case as the rationale. On the other hand, is there any accuracy advantage in using small rifle primers in a case the size of the .243? Has there been any research into the effects of using small primers in a case of this size on accuracy?

One way to find out... test.

I theorize with slower powders like H4831 and H1000, there is little benefit of using small primer brass.

One thing I know is that I'll never use SRP 243win brass in the freezing winter.

I agree about using SRP brass in cold temp weather. I bought some Lapua SRP .308 Palma brass about 2 years ago and prepped it up for my 260AI. I noticed that the SRP brass reached higher pressures sooner than LRP brass with the same powder and bullet load. I assumed that the SRP brass must have somewhat thicker brass to cause smaller internal case dimensions but never verified it.
On a cold early winter day I loaded up my rifle and gear and headed to the range with some SRP loaded brass and all I got when I tried to shoot the stuff were "clicks". Perhaps using different hotter primers would have worked but our range gets pretty much shut down after the first good snow fall.
I would think though that Lapua and other companies that have gone to the trouble and expense of tooling up to manufacture the stuff must have done it because of demand by a substantial number of shooters demanding it and that that number of shooters demanding it must have had good reason to demand it other than "looks"?....Just a guess.
