Remington moving to Georgia

Seems to be official:

It is about time, they and many others should move out of N.Y. state and pay taxes, create jobs, etc in states that support gun rights, for lawful citizens, along with the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.
I wish them well in the move too LaGrange, Georgia.

Remingtons problem was cash flow. The went bankrupt and everything was sold off. All aspects of Remington were split up and it is no longer the large conglomerate it used to be. Buyers were able to buy all patents and equipment for a song thus there is new money to upgrade and move plans to other locations with more friendly environments. One big factor in New York was the union. They were insisting that the new owners rehire all the laid off employees and pay them money owed to them by the previous owners.

Remington Arms was acquired in a bankruptcy proceeding by The Roundhill Group, a real estate investment firm headquartered in London UK with a total of 212 employees. I just don’t get a fuzzy feeling about a return to the Remington of yesteryear. Only time will tell.

Remington need to re-invent itself and stop peddling the same old crap of yester year. New tech, new machines hopefully will equal better rifles.

They need to make hunting rifles that are usable out of the box. Shotguns that are reliable. And ammo that shoots well in all of it.

And sell actions that are timed and have tolerances that dont make you wanna throw at your wall.

Imagine the possibilities of controlled headspace and tennon lengths. For factory barrels.

I wonder if the the lawyer triggers and the previous lawsuits, would effect the new company HQ

I envision a Remington with the quality standards of Sako, and a trigger as reliable. A dream
A remington 700 with a slightly extended bolt (way too short imo) and a winchester model 70 style 3 position safety would be good. Also, a straight action and threads and a really good barrel. Oh, that's too costly? Well what is the sense of spending 3 or 4 hundred on a piece of junk that won't shoot? Design, execution in manufacture and accuracy cost $, which is the reason Tikka and Sako and Cooper and Kimber sell so many rifles.

If you were going to buy a car would you buy one with a compromised engine or transmission? A house with holes in the roof and a crumbling foundation? Buy quality at the outset.

CASH FLOW???? Remington's problem was management, a trigger that should have been fixed 3 decades ago and a law suit. oh and did i mention MANAGEMENT?
We've seen the effects of "investment groups" buying land and paper mills in my home state and it isn't pretty. Actually the only ones who have purchased paper making assets that are still operational here are the chicoms who seem to be in the business for the long haul. I guess folks in china have discovered toilet paper!

Since the new owners have made the decision to move to Georgia , I think it bears well, that they're willing to take this first step in reviving this company . Remington was a quality manufacturer for over 100 years , and it was tragic to see what the company went through due to poor management decisions , and cost cutting issues . Much of it brought about by Union issues . Hope their move is a success , and they thrive for another 200 years , as one of Americas gun makers . See what happens when ya bite the hand that's feedin ya , N'Yark ?
