Any 6BR rifle options?

I've been thinking about getting something new and different. No particular reason other than I like unique things.

Been considering something in 6BR or one of its variants. The BRX seems like an easy no brainer to me. However, I am not finding much available in 6BR, only an couple Savages and maybe a Cooper single shot.

Anybody have ideas or recommendations? I'd like it to be a long range tack driver, and maybe use it for non occasional match or varmints. I already have NRA position rifles in 6.5x284, 6.5 Creedmoor and 308. I dont currently have a true varmint rifle or anything PRS style with a detachable magazine.

Love to hear your ideas. Let her rip!

I very much enjoy my Eliseo UMRS in 6BR. He also makes a break down light weight hunter set up too. The R5 platform is set up specifically for the 6BR, but I have had success with my RTS lower and magpul AC mags with the 6BR as well.

To top it off, Gary is a straight up good dude and pleasure to work with.

Long time BRX shooter here. Great cartridge, love beating Dashers and BRAs. Buy a used bench rifle, over winter you can find them for 1500.00 or less, get it rebarreled. If its a PPC bolt face get it opened up. Buy a Panda, about 75 to 100 dollars to open bolt face. BRX likes Varget with 105 class bullets.

Agree the 6BRX is a great choice. I had Zack build me a 6BR couple years back and it shot very good but I decided to re-chamber it to the 6BRX just because and I'm very glad I did. It shoots fantastic at 100 yds. and I'm hoping to get a chance to shoot it long range soon.

Been a few years but at the time, 6BR Lapua brass couldn't be had. EVERYTHING was on back order. Some folks went as far as picking up Norma 6BR brass. The Norma 6BR brass still has the quality. And when the back orders came in, everybody had brass.

Lots of the guys were going "single shot" to keep from gouging their expensive $100.00 + brass. Doesn't seem that it's too much of a problem now with all brass going in that price range.

A few repeaters out there and when their expensive brass gets scratched, not so much of a problem anymore.
I prefer single shot rifles. Born that way or converted. No chasing brass or watching it hit the ground or trying to find it in the grass.

Nucleus action, KRG Bravo Chassis, Urbanrifleman's Wilson prefit, Trigger Tech Diamond trigger. One of the 6br variants.

Similar to my setup...ARC Nuke, KRG Bravo, PVA shouldered 6BR prefit, Timney 510.

You have to relieve part of the Bravo backbone for a Triggertech to fit without contact, right?

6BR is the no brainer. BRX, BRA and Dasher all need fire-forming and that takes powder, primers, bullet and brainpower :)

If you want a PMS gun, a 10rd detachable mag, adjustable stock and 1st focal plane scope is pretty much required if you don't wanna faceplant.

For a true varmint gun, I would look at a 13 twist so you shoot the light bullets fast. P-dogs hate em...

If you have the primers, powder and bullets to fire form, go for it. Me I'll stay with the straight 6BR-Norma with a 1:8 Twist. The Berger flat base 88 gr bullets shoot lights out in mine and are death and taxes on varmints to 500 yds.

Fire forming for a 6 BRA is really a non issue because the fire forming loads shoot so good.

I took my first one to SD and shot prairie dogs for break in and fire forming. At 400 to 500 yards it didn’t even seem fair to the prairie dogs….lol. Past 500 things got a little tricky because the wind was playing with the little 70 grain Blitzkings.

I fire formed for my second one while making a decent showing (for me) at some local Varmint matches and shooting 600 yard steel with 95 Berger’s.

Is the 6BRA the way to go then over the 6BR if you go with a heavy 8 twist barrel?

BR. BRA, BRX, Dasher can all shoot. I built two BRAs and I have no regrets whatsoever. You can easily shoot club matches or varmints while fire forming your brass. IMO, an heavy 8 twist would be perfect. Just make sure the freebore is set up for the bullets that you want to shoot. That’s why I have a 0 freebore 12 twist and a .104 freebore 8 twist.
