Prayers for the family of James Phillips of Tennessee (aka here as JamesnTN)

I just got word that James Phillips from Tennessee recently passed. He was an avid shooter, reloader and contributor to our sport! He was one of the first guys to earn a name at IBS 600 yard shooting in the early 2000’s. He was a great guy and always eager to help new shooters. Prayers to his family, loved ones, and his best friend, Otis, that traveled with James everywhere. Samuel Hall
Sad news. James was eager to help me with a number of wildcats, and I appreciated his experience and his williness to share what he knew.

RIP James

Sad news, prayers and condolences to his friends and family. I read many of his posts over the years, seemed like a nice guy!

I met James at the first competition match I ever shot back in 2001. Hunted and shot with him several times. A wealth of information and always treated me well.. RIP partner. WD

Sorry to hear this. It must have been unexpected
because he bought a trigger from me the first of Sept.

Yea, I was looking this morning for the name James went by on AccurateShooter so people would recognize who he was (JamesnTN). When I looked him up here, it showed he was online on AS this Thursday. James had a traumatic back injury a few months ago, had back surgery and a hospital stay, but had recovered pretty well. I hear this latest health bout was covid. I am thinking James is about my age, 55. I hope I am not stepping outside my boundries but this is what I have been hearing.
James was one of the first members that joined AccurateShooter in Nov 2004. He has beeen a frequent poster and knowledgeable helper. He sold reloading suppys for a long while under the name “The Reloaders Nest”, I believe it was. I remember James was one of the very first to start shooting the IBS 600 yard disciple when it started in 2003-4. Rodney Wagner said James took him to his first 600 yard match in St Louis in 2004. Back then there was only 3 600 yard ranges in the country. SD, NC, St Loius. James was big into the 22 Dasher and set some records early in the 600 yard years. He was a great shooter and person. I saw James at Piedmont this past year when he shot there. He has called or messaged me several times a year over the years. We have exchanged loading info. He was one of the MOST KNOWLEDGBLE reloader I have ever talked to. Bar none. I will miss him! Samuel Hall

My first 600 yard match was around 2004 at Oak Ridge. That's when I met James. He was running the matches at that time. I was really green and was not even close to being on target and, of course the pits couldn't tell what I needed to do. James gave me the bad news that I wasn't even on paper and when I asked if he had any ideas he answered "you're low and left". I dialed up (a lot) and right a bit and the next shot was on the sighter target. I asked him a few years ago if he remembered and how he would have known. You guessed; just a WAG!
