28 Nosler Lightweight Build

Whole heartedly agree!
When i built my 284 Win, i was originally hoping for about 8.5 pounds. (Mauser actions aren't light to begin with)
At 10 pounds, i use it for hunts closer to the truck.

What is the weight without the can & bipod?

I always enjoy following a build!
I was planning on doing an ELR build based on a 7mm Rem Mag. But you've got me thinking on a 28 Nosler instead for the extra velocity.
But that's planned for 2023.
Saving up for a western elk/mule deer hunt for next year.
Now if i could get my bench rest build done this year. Waiting on the stock builder..

My Jim Lutes Poor Mans 284 sheep rifle. 7.4# scoped,loaded 3 in mag. Built in 1991...30 years old...
9twist Lilja #3 barrel 24". Brown Precision stock,oversize mag well installed for 3.1" loaded round,bolt stop cut back for an extra 3/8" to eject a loaded round. Set up and throated for 140 gr Barnes bullet,holds a 3/4" group @100 yds.This is A Mtn. rifle for 300yds.Though knowing my gun dropped one elk at 377 yds,one shot total pass thru,all elk one shot,always a pass thru ,thats what I want.Been a great gun,I think I have 1300.00 in it as you see it. I touch up paint the stock with Brownel's Alum Tuff,still looks brand new!

An original when folks did not worry so much about the weight of a rifle, only how well it put the game down.

Mauser Type 'B', 10.75x68 Mauser with all steel accoutrement = 7 lbs. 5 oz.

Great gun…I just picked up a second….any leads on brass or ammo?
