Current Best Hand Priming Tool

Hi Folks,

Looking for a news handpriming tool.

Ideally I'd like one that does the following cases:

.223 Rem
.257 Roberts
7x64
9.3x62
.44 mag
.404 Jeffery

(Most loaded will be .223 Rem and .44 mag)

I like the look of the safety gate on the RCBS Universal but here it is rubbish with .223 Rem

After having some issues involving primers a few years back I bought a bench mounted RCBS. End of problems, never looked back.

Frankford arsenal makes a great hand priming tool the depth is adjustable comes with 10 or 12 shell holders it is all metal and has great ergonomics and a decent price as well

I'm using my Sinclair this morning, I do have a 21'st
Century, but prefer the Sinclair.

I bought this priming tool and it is a fabulous tool! Built like a Sherman tank and the wheel micro adjustment of the primer height works flawlessly!

21 st century and Sinclair gets my vote. I also have a K&M that’s pretty nice. I hate the RCBS and Hornaday also the new style Lee I haven’t used the Frankfurt but hear good things about it but kinda skeptical

I use the RCBS. I used to use the Lee, but they changed the mechanics and it is not very good any longer. Been thinking about a bench mounted one but can't really think of a reason to get rid of the RCBS

I have the Sinclair and it works just fine.

I use the RCBS Automatic priming tool. The hand "squeeze" type tools caused too much hand pain after a while.

Stay away from those adjustable type priming tools. This is one of the biggest gimmicks in handloading.

Without a doubt. 21st Century as far as a hand priming tool. I've owned just about every one on the market.

Try a PMA. Better than any other hand priming tool I have used.

Curious. Which tools are you referring to as being gimmicks?

Frankford Arsenal makes one. There are a few others but don't remember their names.

Primers are designed to be seated until the cup bottoms out in the primer pocket. Seating deeper improves nothing. Seating so the primer has not bottomed out could cause a misfire as some of the energy in the firing pin would be used to "complete" the priming process and there might not be enough energy to set off the primer.

Call any primer manufacturer and they will tell you that their primers are designed to be fully seated without crushing them.

K&M has a few quirks, but I still use them and have long gotten rid of a Sinclair. If upgrade it will be a PMA so I won’t have to worry about a different shell holder platform. This is my actually fav,only used a hand primer though.
