Anybody seen this RE TS 15.5 yet?

I am not seeing ANY Alliant powder in stock. I am not ready to pay $50 a pound.
Reloder powder prices are up for sure but not that bad. Bought Reloder 26 locally 8lbs 246.00 plus tax. That’s up about 4.00 per lb.
Hodgdon is up too 35.00 per lb for 1 lb and 226.00 for 8’s but seeing lots of powder on shelves which is the good news.

I have been running R15/203B in my 6XC with 105 Berger hybrids and have been very happy with that. Think this would be even better.

Any thoughts about 15.5 in a straight 6BR for 105 to 109 class bullets? Too slow?
That would be first or second on my list... second only to Service Rifle loads in the AR platform that currently run RL-15 now.

Days that start in the high 40's and end in the high 90's before we get to the 600 yard line come to mind...

I just hope the speed plays well with the gas systems.

I am guessing this will be a cake walk with the F-TR barrels in 223 as well.

We will just have to wait to find out.

Last night I was digging through the Alliant online reloading guide. It did not show 15.5 as one of their powders BUT if you dig through some of the individual cartridges, you will find some reloading data for the new 15.5 powder

What is the density? Same as RL15 or fluffy like RL16? Thinking about it replacing the rare and expensive Varget.

They have .223 loads for 75 & 77 gr bullets with 25 gr and don't note that it's compressed, so the density should be like RL-15.

I need to finish my load workups. I had planned on running through the ar comp one more time then back to TS 15.5.

I really never hit pressure and I went up to 38 grains with the 108. Velocities were outstanding. Pressure curve is very flat.

I was able to mooch a bit of 15.5 off the gentlemen who wrote the article for testing in my 6 BRA. Short story, behaved very much like Varget. Though many are running a bit quicker powder in the 6 BRA (4198) I have a lot of Varget and no 4198 so I'm still using Varget. And it shoots well with that powder. As in 3 strings clean at 500 with 48X at the last match I shot it in. That may change though. The target below tells the story on a breezy day at 200 yards. I held point of aim rather than try to correct for wind. Wanted to see what the vertical looked like. That was my final round of testing where I'd settled on a powder charge and was testing different primers. The charge I settled on was 31.2 of 15.5 and CCI 450 primers pushing EPS 106 grain bullets. The identical load I use with Varget. I did not see the increase in velocity that others testing with larger cartridges did but what I did see impressed me. When this powder becomes available it'll find a place in my reloading room.

Is this approaching the mythical powder that is slower than Varget, slightly faster than the 4350s, temp stable, and not so bulky that it will work in a 308 based case?

Someone here several yrs ago wrote that this search was had me fast approaching an event horizon. I’ve since been circling just outside.
