"Bargain" Barrels

Ordered up a "lesser known" (previously mentioned) barrel from a barrel maker that's been around for YEARS.
Got it in two days. Turned around and ordered another and got it in a couple more days. Try that with Pac Nor or any of the well known barrel makers.
The only problem about getting an "off the shelf" pre fit/chambered barrel is it may not be chambered "exactly" like you want it so you end up a second choice.
Nothing like having you own custom cut reamer to get what YOU WANT!!

I have a massive order of non threaded contours coming so I can make any chamber you want in any thread. :)

I started another company to chanber rifles but we cannot get an FFL. But we can make prefits.

I cut this 6xc that is in my yellow Elisio I call the Schoolbus. Wilson 1-8 that I contoured and chambered myself. :)

But then again, you luck out and find that the "deep discount barrel" is a shooter. ;)
Picked up as Douglas barrel, known as a "gunsmiths blank barrel" off an auction site. Two for sale but I was only able to snag one.
Wanted to build a "wildcat" in 6.8 BR but didn't want to spend BIG $$$ on a barrel and not be happy with the chambering or the barrel.
Was told that the Douglas barrel was crap because they wern't lapped?
Got it chambered with MY custom made reamer, mounted that sucker up and went shooting. Five shot group that can be covered with a dime. Not to shabby if you ask me.
I've also heard about the top brand barrels coming out with crap at times. You pays your $$$ and your takes your chances.
And you don't hear much about the lesser brand barrels NOT being on the "equipment list"? Maybe that's because folks are scared off by the remarks of others that were also scared off by what others had to say?

"Caveat Emptor"

My barrels aren't junk. If that was directed at me.

The borescope video is a chamber I cut in one of my pdog barrels using a method taught to me my by David Tubb. I would say it works.
That's a pretty good looking chamber. I wonder what the barrel looks like a few inches further into it. That barrel looks like it may have been hand lapped.

I had a transaction and really long phone conversation with Bradley before he ever started selling barrels, and if I was in the market for a new prefit barrel for my Bighorn SL3 it would be from him. I don't shoot competitively, but I do like punching paper for my own satisfaction and the most important job my rifle would ever do is hunt. I'm confident in it now, but if I rebarreled it and used an Urbanrifleman barrel I'm sure it would improve from it's current state.

I took is as being directed at boresopes since they so often disagree with the target. I’m dealing with a barrel right now that bore scopes beautifully, but it won’t shoot for $hit. I also have some factory savage barrels that look like they were rifled and chambered with a chisel and yet they stack bullets.

Interesting.

Apparently the thing that makes the barrel shoot like crap is the barrel itself and the bore being inconsistent.

Some of the best prefits didn't appear perfect in the throat cut, but shot bugholes.

I think its the barrel diameter 98 percent. You cannot see that with a scope.

If it was directed at you, I would have said so!! And why would I direct it at you?

Some folks think a "bore scope" is the best thing since sliced breads.
If you look at the barrel with a bore scope and see   but you're printing a 5 shot group that can be covered with a dime..... who you gunna believe?

I bought a Wilson "gunsmith blank" at auction for a wildcat project and didn't want to spend BIG $$$ on a barrel and not like the round when I got thru building.
Had it threaded and chambered and was told Wilson barrels were "junk" because they wern't lapped?
Turned out to be a bug hole maker with very little effort. ;)

Cool.

Wilson barrels ARE LAPPED!!!!

Wilson barrels ARE LAPPED!!!!
Maybe not 10 + years ago? Could be that someone got some wrong information? That happens. And maybe this blank sat on the shelf for a while before being put up for sale?
I know from the experience with my Wilson barrel, I wouldn't hesitate to get another one. :)

I have personally worked with prefits, and blanks that Brad sells. IMHO they cannot be beat for the value. The maiden barrel purchase was a prefit in 223 AI. I've used and abused it, and it shoots lights out. It has over 1500 rounds down it, and looks better than some I've scoped with 500 rounds down the pipe. I put my money in results not pictures, but with products that Brad sells I get both. You will not be disappointed with the accuracy of @urbanrifleman barrels and blanks.

He tried to burn that barrel down too. Hahaha
