20 caliber cleaning rod? Advice please

Mine is a coated Dewey. Thing I like most about it is that I can spin the handle, and it keeps spinning for twenty seconds or more. That has nothing to do with cleaning the barrel, but I just think it's cool.


Gotta say that my barrel seems to stay very clean for pretty extended shot strings, and I try not to over clean. And since I don't have a bore scope, I can get away with that. jd

Just make sure the rod is long enough, remembering you will need a bore guide. I have a custom made stainless for my .22 centerfires, wish I would have had a 20 made.
I was just hanging around my gunsmith shop, when another rifle with a stuck bore snake came in. Don't be that guy.

I stuck a jag while on a PD hunt. A T/C so I popped off the barrel and dumped a bunch of Butches down the tube, let it soak an hour and it finally let loose. No bore snake for this guy.

The rifle came with a bore guide.

Dewey Rod and 1 inch round ProShot patches. Really like the Shooters Lube for cleaning the bores. Cleans well, no smell.

Designed to prevent excessive flexing of the rod while cleaning longer barrels, and can be used to clean shorter length barrels such as Thompson Contenders without flexing or needing a separate shorter cleaning rod. Tipton does have a how-to-use video if you need to see it in action.
