I was look at land auctions yesterday and came across this gun auction! No wonder there’s an ammo shortage! One guy with this much ammo!?
Has almost 20k of rimfire.

Hoarding only applies if you have no personal use for the ammo, like buying cases of ammo that you don't own a gun for, or if you only occasionally fire a box or two. I personally have gone through a thousand + rounds in a day.

Do you know any serious class 3 collectors or shooters? 125,000 rounds goes quickly in those circles.

When cci standard velocity comes back down to 5cpr I will buy, and not stop till I have 250k of it.

So 20k isn't that much.

I looked over the rifles and came to the conclusion he has a compulsive, excessive mental disorder or what is commonly termed, OCD. Appears as most of these guns are in pristine condition. Probably never fired. If it were not for the amount of ammo, I would consider him a collector.

None of these weapons appears to be of any collectors grade and now that they are on the market will hardly bring enough to cover his investment. The ammo, being as scarce as it is at this time is a different story but only because of present conditions. Most of the ammo is run of the mill and nothing I would care to use.

As for the rimfire ammo, that is not an unreasonable amount to have on hand, if you are a serious rimfire shooter.

Sorry, there was something funny about having Chicago in your title and shooting a thousand + rounds in a day.

Where there is a will there is a way. Had a shooting park about 60 or so miles away - Buffalo Range. They have a shooting pit where you can blast for fun when you got tired of bullseye shooting. There used to be one called Midwest Tactical Training Institute about 90 miles. Had steel silhouette plates on various ranges. Had a jungle walk course too. Used to go early and shoot courses all day long. Shot 900 rounds of 44 magnum alone. Fond memories for the golden years.

20K of .22's is only 4 cases. I've got 2 cases in my garage as I type this (down from 3 cases about 6 months ago.) Which reminds me, I need to start shopping again...

If everything goes "south" like it looks like it could...........125,000 will be a decent start. But still not enough.......I'm not saying how much I've actually got, but let's say I've got a little better than a decent start.....just in case it hits the fan. Been preparing since the Clinton years.

Ammunition will be mostly used as trading currency in most cases in the event of a social collapse.

Agree........Anyone who stays in the same place for more than a day or two after the first attack will end up in the same condition. Defense only positions NEVER win in the long term. Mobility, cunning along with knowing when to fight and knowing when to avoid a fight will keep you alive.
