Arthritis in shooting hand

I have it bad in knee and shoulder. Have to stay away from sugar. I take 400mg advil twice a day. When its bad I'll take 600mg. If it happens to let up, I'll skip the advil. You got to stay active & exercise. I also take glucosamine with msm & fish oil. Eat more berries that are high in antioxidants.

Try Ice and ibuprofen on large joints, knee, shoulder, maybe wrist. My trigger finger is so badly bent that I can't pull a accutrigger straight back so it locks up. I use Volteran on my thumbs and knees. There is always surgery, lots of new procedures.

I have arthritis in my neck so bad some times I cant use my left arm, recoil was killing me, Reduced to milder recoiling cartridges and... I KNOW its the Marrow plant..... I found this advice and tried it to this day "it works for me" going on 10 years, I could not stand the taste but now I am good with it 2 to 3 Marshmallows a day, I still avoid the big kickers anything 06 or more with a brake only! big magnums leave for someone else. Now the only time I suffer is if I sleep in a bad position or I don't listen to my neck and stop shooting soon enough, The next day my left arm lets me know it

Anyone have this going on ,my wrist is killing me. What is good for arthritis ?
Another thought, You mentioned wrist. Is it carpel tunnel?
You also could try a velcro wrist support. You may have to try a couple different ones to
see which suits you but it should help if you find the right one.

Alternate ice and heat, ibuprofen, and topical Voltaren provide some relief; if a major event is coming up a steroid injection can yield major short term improvement. The Velcro brace during activity helps. Getting old ain't for sissies!

Over the past half dozen years or so, I've had some arthritic pains in some of my finger joints. What's helped me, it being generally an inflammatory condition:

Keeping away from processed foods.
Greater amounts of anti-inflammatory foods.
Greater amounts of antioxidant-rich foods.
Greater amounts of leafy greens, "brightly" colored vegetables.
More fiber (soluble and insoluble).
Olive oil, nuts and seeds.
Modest meal and snack sizes.
Lots of water.
Daily exercise (better blood flow, better ability of body to send nutrients and eject waste products).
Targeted exercise in those "arthritic" areas (ie, my hands/fingers).
Lots of stretching, particularly in the achy areas.

For me: vegetable heavy, lots of leafy greens, lots of fiber, moderate amounts of certain fruits, a good olive oil, seeds/nuts, little to no "processed" foods, lots of water, modest portions and meal sizes, more of a "grazing" approach than a "big meals sit-down" approach.

Helps, for me. But then, I've got a mild case. Won't always be that way, I'm sure, but it definitely helps currently.

If, after six months of this sort of change, you don't find improvement, then definitely seek your doctor's advice. Perhaps consider specific allergen/inflammatory-foods tests to see if you should be avoiding certain foods that your body's reacting poorly to. (I know someone who did these tests years ago, and she's experiencing few of those earlier arthritic/inflammatory pains and problems she once did. In her case, that made all the difference. She's in her mid-80s, and wonders if she'd made those changes 40yrs ago whether she would have any aches of that sort whatsoever. Anecdotal, sure, but in her case it was a change with rapid improvements and reductions in aches.)

Having dealt with arthritis issues since my twenties , I found some short-term relief for my wrists and hands using a topical cream called , Theragesic Ointment , (Super strength ) . Applying it to the affected area twice , about 15 minutes apart , and two Naproxen Sodium tablets , 220mg make those bad days tolerable . I would caution that excessive intake of N-saids , can cause damage to both the Liver and Kidneys , so be aware . Just because this works for me , doesn't mean it will work for anyone else . We all react differently to medications .

I also moved from Ohio to Arizona forty years ago ; as my Dr. suggested a drier climate would be beneficial . Cold , damp climates aren't high on the list of places to live for arthritis sufferers . He was correct . My life and activities became more enjoyable , and active . Change of habitat was a game-changer , but we all get older , and we do get to "Pay the Piper" , for our past indiscretions .

I have it in both wrists, thumbs and all fingers. Not a lot can be done, but these things keep it down to a dull roar.

1 ibuprofen every 4-6 hours along with a prescription of DULOXETINE HCL as prescribed, so check with your physician.

Voltaren didn't work worth a flip, nor did methotrexate and Enbrel. Aspirin worked, but not as well as ibuprofen. I've avoided other NSAIDs due to kidney problems.

Talk to your physician, my experience is just that and not medical advice.

Had the tunnel done a few years ago, thanks

I need to keep up with this thread, my right wrist kills me some days from just any normal activity, other days almost pain free, unfortunately I don't get to choose the days.

A trip to the doctor is in the near future.

The best relief is Thermaflex made by faram that I have found so far. I use it on the mules but works the best for me so far.Says not intended for human consumption ,I don't intend to drink the stuff....LOL

Muleman69, you reminded me. I was a Rural Mail Carrier and one of my customers, an old guy, used to have me get him "bag balm" for his arthritis. Was in a square green can. If a RLC did that today, he would probably get fired.
