Turban Single Stage Press, Review, The basics. (120)

Turban Single Stage Press, Review, The basics. (120)

I do not make many equipment comments these days because it just isn't worth the effort for the most part. The firearms market and associated equipment is driven by the common consumer price range demographic.
This will be the exception, to not caring much.
The Turban presses are in a class of their own and deserve the press.
In a few words, "The gold standard", as a friend put it.
If and when you decide to step up to a truly spectacular press, any of the 3 Turban presses will delight you with precision and the enjoyment of a nearly perfect thing.
Much the same feeling with the BAT actions, in the same class, "Gold Standard".
You will wonder during the 6 month wait time if it was really worth it. Nay sayers and various types will discourage and try to cast doubt on your boldness and willingness to have a little faith. Be sure, the force shall be with you, you will not be disappointed in any way. The minor reviews these presses have received in the US is pathetic and lame at best, as so many things are in the US these days. Be sure; You rarely get what you pay for these days, you never get more than you pay for. In this case, you get at least what you are paying for possibly a bit more.
It does take a good 6 months to appear. Shipped expertly, banded, well packed, DHL, 1 week air service, flawless execution and fulfillment. Customs cleared, both ends, delivered to the home address, extremely pleased with the entire process.
As I described to a shooting friend last week, yes you can get good actions cheaper. However in 5 years, that top of the line BAT will be even more expensive and you will still be raptured by the one you are using and have.
Turban presses, buy with confidence.
Eliminating tolerances matters.

I have the 105 Prazi. It’s absolutely beautiful and amazing! I would have gotten the 120 but I only load .223 and 6.5X47L. The craftsmanship is simply fantastic! When I say zero play I mean ZERO. Run out is not measurable. Very good folks to deal with and it’s packaged like nothing you’ve ever seen. Overnighted from Germany ( obviously), spent a day in customs in Cincinnati then went to New Orleans then to me the next day by DHL.

I must concur, I have the 120 and it is everything you boys described. Quite a piece of work. I will be setting the Zero up next to it very soon. I look forward to seeing the difference in fit and feel. I have not seen these two compared/reviewed togehter yet, has anyone?

105 here. Been loading 6br to 338 lapua. Improved consistency in all measurements compared to my coax (sold) and 550 (sold). cnc machined from steel. This is better value than the aluminum zero press imo. Just ordered Triebel dies for 6.5x47. Anyone have experiences with those?

Uh, where's the "basics" review?
I get that you like it and consider it a worthwhile investment, but the content of the OP is little more than marketing fluff with pictures from the manufacturer's website.
I get what you mean by "don't make comments..." I have spent the time doing equipment reviews, trying to be as objective as possible.

I have the Prazipress 120 and have had it for several months now. It is without question the finest single stage press out there. It is smooth and has no deflection. Thomas Turban is a great guy as well.

I had one minor issue with mine. Whidden and Harrells dies would not screw into the 7/8-14 insert. ALL other brands of dies would. So a machinist made me a special insert. I promise you the issue was not with the German made press insert, it was with those two die makers making their die threads a little larger to take up the slop in most presses.

I also get to use Zero Presses at the shop. The Zero Press is the finest turret press bar none. The Prazipress is smoother. Eventually, I'll have a Zero to go with my Prazipress and all the others will go in the trash.

We have Zero Presses at the shop. They are excellent as well, no doubt the best turret press out there. My Prazi is smoother to operate. You can't go wrong with either and I will eventually add a Zero Press to my Prazi and then get rid of my other presses.

Sometimes and for a good few of us its the joy of using a precision instrument.
Kind of like BAT actions vs all the rest.
Confidence in knowing your doing the best possible of any given set of operations.
For some, not all.

About all a press can do is provide more consistent bump numbers. But even then thats mostly the die. Nice equipment is just that, nice. And I do think it is worth the money if you enjoy it. But I do know many of the current record holders on the books in lr br and your press is not holding you back, but I do not discount the fact that this may be the finest press out there. Its just a ways down the list on what matters.

Those presses are nice and I have thought about buying one, but on second thought, I don't think that a press (no matter how precise it is) is going to make a mediocre shooter a record holder. There is a lot more to work on than a press and money can't buy talent. I wonder what press was used when records were broken 5 years ago?? Was it the press or the shooter?

I cant Help but want a press like that, certainly isn’t a need. My Rock Chucker and Co-Ax Do an excellent job, Rock Chucker is 30 years old and still going strong but it would be fun to own a press like that. I have too many other things to buy first though. Thanks for sharing.

The same as used today. But it is nice to use nice equipment.

IMO, just get what you like. It's your money & hobbie. I use a pair of old Hollywood Senior presses that have been "accurized", so switching my shell holder from one to another keeps me within 1K shoulder bump.....Is that important?.....NOPE....Just cool . For the ppc's I use 2 dedicated RFD's....As you can tell, I like the old stuff. Paired with custom dies those presses are 2nd. to none.....Since they are mine, that is all the really matters around here. Confidence in your equipment gained through measured results is very important.
I think the offered press is a gorgeous piece of equipment and would be a "Cadillac" edition to any reloading system. I LOVE seeing newer designs and innovations brought to the public. Wish I had the $ to try them all.

Regards
Rick
